This acid tongued journalist doesn’t care about causing offence. Though Tanya Gold benefitted from an Oxford education, she said the place was “hellish” and “[needed] to be broken apart and stuffed with state school kids”. Best known for undercover reporting, she is most often found interviewing the likes of the late paedophile Jimmy Savile or viciously attacking successful restaurateurs such as Keith McNally of Balthazar. This former alcoholic and queen of the posion pen has also written a column named “The Quitter” but sadly, though many wish for it, we suspect she won’t. Next!

I bet she is still a virgin, an remarkable achievement in these morally corrupt times. My sincere compliments.
She’s a miserable old dog.
She is one of the finest and most acerbic of the younger generation of journo’s ranking with the deliciously clever Camilla Long. What on earth has the fact that she is a recovering alcoholic to do with the price of salt?
Who is Mr McNally? Maybe he deserved his basting. Frankly, we hear just a little too much of these chefs and restauranteurs. They should learn their place in polite society instead of thrusting themselves forward at every opportunity.
Pete Wayde and Tanya Gold obviously share a chemistry they cannot deny, and a love they cannot ignore.
I recommend a quiet romantic evening at their local Nando’s Restaurant, it is a deliciously different way to spice it up and break the ice. Nando’s Lime and coriander Peri-Peri Chicken is delicious and very reasonable in price, the sauces are included. The management and staff are well trained in customer services etiquette, and you are under no obligation to leave a tip. I look forward to reading your review of your experience at Nando’s.
What exactly is Nando: some sort of ‘ethnic experience’? If so, it would not appeal.
And why would you be so simplistic as to imagine that my regard for someone who writes rather well could be the basis of some form of romantic assignation. I fear, Mr Paddaman, you may have to ‘run that one past me again’.
Pete Wayde is obviously not a connoisseur of Mozambican-Portuguese cuisine.
What a shame, to miss out on such culinary art.
Perhaps he could customise the Mcdonald’s fast food chain. Ronald Mcdonald will appeal to him, as does Tanya Gold.
Bon Appetit.
She gives journalism a bad name. She can’t write for toffee.
Not quite the opinion of the editor of the Sunday Times, the Standard and the various other media who purchase her words by the expensive thousand. Oh, but apologies…who am I to contest the view of someone of your literary provenance…just pulling your leg!
She’s a b***h of the first order. *** this cow. She’s of no use to anyone. She just wrecks the lives of decent people. F*****g cow. [EDITED FOR DECENCY]
Henry…don’t you think that as Steeples Times is a family medium you might avoid the use of ‘toilet talk”? Those who know you will know you as articulate, but those like I, who don’t, might be driven to believe that you are not terribly well educated.
My old grandpere, Le Duc de Cantaloupe de Braganza…a gentleman of exquisite manners and bearing always said only common people swore. Was he right or wrong?
A vile creature. Appalling and twisted.
It’s very rude to describe Henry in this way….I ma sure he means well
She will go to hell in a handcart.
An excellent, entertaining journalist. I love her stuff. She gets to the heart of her subject and calls out the pretentious and pompous like McNally and his ghastly overpriced ‘restaurants’.
Did you see her article about going deer stalking in The Telegraph at the weekend? I found elements of it racist and frankly that is another reason I simply cannot stand her.
Didn’t see that. Will look it up.
Here you go: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/jlss-jb-why-i-quit-being-a-pop-star-to-take-up-deer-farming/
The PR referred to is my friend Claire Zambuni and the chef is also a gent too.
Tanya Gold’s remarks about Antigua are racist and she should be ashamed of herself.
Sometimes young Steeple I fear that you see “reds under the beds”. I followed your link and read her scribblings. I saw nothing of what you describe as racist and aprt from the odd contrived rather lumpen attempst at humour, thoiught it good piece. She certainly writes more fluently than most of your contributors. (Rod Jones excepted, of course, he doesn’t write. He adds minmal comments with the charm of a paintball splash).
Thank you for describing me as “young” but I must suggest there’s nothing about me suspecting Communism in Tanya Gold. She is simply a racist bigot and her comments in the most recent article about Antigua and donkeys proves such. This woman has no charm at all and having met her once, I’d rather eat wasps and nails than ever encounter her sorry person ever again. I hope you never have the misfortune to encounter this bizarre beast of a bird.
