Racist Tory councillor Nick Harrington tweeted: “You can keep your f***ing gypsies” after Ireland gave Britain ‘nul points’ in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. The bigot, magistrate and director of Ambay Software Ltd. then added: “Hard border coming folks!” but showed no remorse when contacted at his £400,000 home in Weston-under-Wetherley, near Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Though Harrington was subsequently suspended by the Conservative Party and has now taken his Twitter account down, other social media users subsequently exposed previously highly inappropriate posts that this vile shocker had made elsewhere .

He’s not only a councillor, supposedly representing the views of his ward, he’s also a magistrate (and treasurer of Warwickshire’s Justices’ Mess, see wjmess.org). Can we be confident that someone with such racist views is administering justice impartially? I think not. He’s a trustee of Warwickshire’s Justices’ Mess.

I am offended by the language and although not a gypsy myself, I was horrified that racist language was used by Nick Harrington’s tweeting. It may be ok for an alleged megalomaniac such as Donald Trump to do so rather than coming face to face with his people, but across the Pond, he should show some respect and not bring his political down even further than they already are.
If talking about Irish or any other “Gypsies,” then it is clear to know who we are talking about. Not to be confused with Romanians, Gypsies are an ethnic group whether Irish or not, so are considered to be a “race” as Romani/Romany gypsies are a nomadic ethnic group, living mostly in Europe and the Americas and originating from the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent, and have their own language divided into several dialects.
However, maybe some are not gypsies by “Travellers” that the illiterate such as Con[servative] councillor Nick Harrington was referring to when he the poor dear got upset all because the Irish did not vote for the UK entry (Jones) in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). Has he not thought that possibly the UK entry was rubbish and why Eire gave the UK nil points?
For many years now, the UK had to resign themselves as losers of the ESC, but that’s no reason for Harrington saying, “… thanks Ireland. You can keep your f****** gypsies!”
I consider it a racist attack and find this totally unacceptable language for anyone to use – and considering he [Harrington] supposed to be a magistrate, is this language he generally uses in courts and meetings? Regardless, he ought to be not only suspended as a councillor and magistrate for using such foul language, he ought to be sacked and investigate by the police for being a racist and using offensive language. Typically for some Cons, they speak before they think… and Nick Harrington is one such individual!
It’s a real worry when there are people like him in high office with these sorts of views.
