About our journalism

Editorial standards

How The Steeple Times reports, attributes, corrects and distinguishes fact, opinion and commercial material.

Accuracy before speed

We aim to publish information that is accurate, fairly presented and supported by identifiable evidence. When a claim cannot be independently verified, we say so. Headlines and search descriptions should faithfully reflect the article beneath them.

Sources and attribution

We attribute reporting, documents, photographs and quotations wherever practical. Anonymous sources are used only where there is a clear public-interest reason to protect them, and their information is assessed before publication.

Fact, comment and opinion

News reporting, analysis and opinion may share a distinctive voice, but readers should be able to understand which is which. Strongly expressed commentary does not remove our obligation to be accurate about the underlying facts.

Corrections and replies

Substantive errors are corrected promptly and transparently. Anyone who believes an article is inaccurate or unfair may contact [email protected], identifying the article and the point at issue.

Commercial independence

Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate relationships are labelled. Commercial considerations do not determine our editorial conclusions.
