Pippa Middleton becomes a contributing editor for ‘Vanity Fair’
Pippa Middleton is most definitely someone who could be described as polarising. Some resent and mock her. Others admire her for having panache and being enterprising. Miss Middleton, the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, to the surprise of some, has recently added another string to her bow and become a contributing editor to Vanity Fair.
Announcing the appointment, Graydon Carter, the magazine’s editor, commented:
“We’re delighted to have Pippa as a contributor to Vanity Fair… She’s a keen observer of classic British pastimes. She is also an avid sportswoman, and we look forward to her take on traditional English pursuits, beginning with Wimbledon”.
Carter’s decision attracted wide-scale criticism from many, but Daisy Buchanan of The Guardian sensibly surmised that:
“Vanity Fair is a society magazine, and Middleton leads the kind of socially active existence that its readers identify with or aspire to. She might not be able to write searing political commentary, but she can use the knowledge and skills that her connections bring her in a practical way… If one of Carole Middleton’s children can land a coveted editorial position in this difficult climate, maybe there is hope for all of us”.
Game, set and match.

Vanity Fair’s appointment is based on Pippa’s Royal connections. Merit has nothing to do with it
Katie Price is newspaper colomnist too. No experience or formal education in the field required.
Is that cover real? If so, I shall certainly buy the issue, in which case Pippa has contributed something already!
It was a spoof from “The Huffington Post”. Got the email from Basia. Will be in touch.
I thought Camilla Long was in fine fettle deconstructing Mrs Middleton in last week’s Sunday Times..
Mrs M is the Mrs Bennett of our times-and to have achieved all from Southall…
Such skilled and calculated social climbing makes her a latterday Bess of Hardwicke
Of course connections play a role, but that only means she will have to work harder to stand amongst the critics while jealousy takes a key position.
I fear it’s not jealously: merely surprise that Vanity Fair( once enjoying a position of substance) needs resort to this sort of ploy….
The other issue is that by grabbing every conceivable opportunity to promote themselves the Middleton clan do rather give the impression that they are rather money driven….which clearly they are. In itself, that is not a problem but if it seems they are hijacking their daughter’s position to coin it in they could be seen as mercenary
