Matthew Steeples suggests Boris Johnson needs to stop clowning around and tell the truth about his strategy to fight COVID-19 and Omicron this winter
Last December, the Prime Minister lied to us. Nothing new there, but in promising we’d have Christmas free of restrictions and then taking it away, he plunged the nation into misery and the economy further into the red.
Now, whilst The Sun this morning pinned the blame for the Omicron crisis on “doctor doom” Dr Jenny Harries and went as far as to call her the “grinch… determined to kill the festive spirit” and a woman who “reeks of over-compensating,” I’d go one further. Today, I remind readers that ultimately it is the captain whom should take responsibility for his clearly sinking ship.
Sadly for our poor (and getting poorer) nation, however, we’re stuck on a rudderless ship captained by the buffoon that is Boris Johnson and sadly we don’t even have any kind of opposition either. Sir Keir Starmer may be an affable chap, but why isn’t he doing his job and why is he busying himself with internal infighting instead?
Here, along with the disaster area that is also Boris Johnson-owned Brexit, we’ve been through what The Sun also called “a wretched few weeks” and sadly we’ve got plenty more of that to come. It is time now for the Prime Minister to man-up and to stop clowning around. It is time for him to tell us the truth about what he really intends for us all this Christmas; will we be just masked-up or yet again totally locked down?
