New evidence about movements inside White House Farm on the evening of the massacre there raises new questions about Jeremy Bamber’s conviction
This morning the Mirror splashed its front page with an exclusive about Jeremy Bamber.
Featuring the headline: “New evidence gives me ultimate alibi for White House Farm massacre,” the “sensational claim” relates to the timing of the last sighting of movement within the Essex farmhouse in the early hours of the morning of 7th August 1985.
Speaking from his cell in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, Bamber commented:
“It is the ultimate alibi that I was in the company of dozens of police officers when it was clear that a person or persons were alive in the house who I am convicted of murdering.”
Whilst police have maintained that Bamber’s parents, sister and her two sons were dead by around 3.30am, his legal team have repeatedly said “a rifle was spotted was spotted in an upstairs window by two separate firearms officers at around 7am on the morning of the murder.” Now, included in new evidence, is a claim that “a 999 call was made from the house at 6.09am.” Other evidence suggests “windows at the farm may have been opened after 3.30am and lights turned off between 4am and 5am” and as his lawyer, Mark Newby, pointed out: “These things shouldn’t have been happening at those times if it was Jeremy. So it causes a real worry.”
Yet again, whether innocent or guilty, if this is proven true, this potentially could be one of the biggest miscarriages of justice ever in Britain. At the very least, these claims should be investigated.
