Matthew Steeples spends an evening at Clubino in Kensington
If The Talented Mr Ripley’s Dickie Greenleaf and his sidekick Tom Ripley were to have visited London, they’d have felt at home at Clubino, a piano and jazz bar underneath Kensington’s Baglioni Hotel.

Designed by the Evening Standard’s former style director Gianluca Longo, Clubino is a place that its charming Italian transplant founder Luca Del Bono describes as “a setting where people [can] drift away [like] we used to enjoy back in Italy a few decades ago”. Here you’ll find décor that mixes “Capri cabaret bar” with “mid-century Manhattan” and pairs it with Murano chandeliers and hand painted murals.
