What will become of Scotland’s ability to defend itself if it becomes independent of the rest of the UK?

In all seriousness, independence could be disastrous in terms of how Scotland would defend itself. Over 1,000 people have already commented on a Guardian article about such and the most amusing reads: “Who’s going to defend Scotland? Call in The Krankies”.
