Blue Baloney

Matthew Steeples calls out the PR stunt that is ‘Blue Monday’ for what it really is – banal baloney

Today is supposedly ‘Blue Monday.’ It is the “day of the year when the UK is collectively feeling the lowest” according to the doom-mongering oracle of depression that is the Daily Mail and it is all about “gloom” and “despair” if you are stupid enough to believe some psychologist with the ludicrously silly name of Honey Langcaster-James.

To “combat” these woes, self-declared “media commentator” Langcaster-James (who just happens to be – surprise, surprise – working “alongside” KLM Royal Dutch Airlines) suggests booking a flight (“What commission is she on for that?” one might ask), but also urges the nation to “give [itself] a pat on the back.” How terribly swell.

This plainly deranged woman urges people to “take time to do nothing” but then contradicts herself by suggesting exercising also. “A quick jog round the block can also help improve your mood,” she opines; talking to friends and family is a “great antidote to the blues” she then helpfully whines.

I say something else of this bag of bollocks: Ignore this ridiculous PR stunt and simply go down the pub and get pissed. That’ll leave you feeling a hell of a lot better.

Honey Langcaster-James is plainly a woman who wishes to profit from misery. She’s also a bit of a bore about the royal family’s woes and last night tweeted: “#HarryandMeghan have set an example by showing you can break free of the life expected of you through birth, or because of who you happen to love, & also demonstrating that mental health and wellness should come above all else! #sussexroyals @BPSOfficial #megexit #MeghanAndHarry

  1. I like KLM and I would suggest using them to take a one way ticket out of post Brexit UK while you still can. The public will be screaming and will soon be suffering extreme blues and wondering how this mess was allowed to arise. Every day will be a Blues Day. No pats on the back, just the chaos Gina Miller warned of and has not miraculously vanished since the UK will have lost a strong negotiating position.
