Katie Hopkins: The reality

The public should be exposed to the real Katie Hopkins

Last night I met Katie Hopkins. This chance encounter at a party –where I was also briefly and rather randomly introduced to the ex-jailbird Chris Huhne (as cringeworthy as one would expect) and ‘Darth Labour’ Lord Mandelson (as dark as one would imagine) – surprised me. Katie Hopkins, I found, is – shock horror – not a complete harridan but actually great company and rather a pleasant individual.

Hopkins and I chatted about all manner of things along with my actress and comedian friend Helen Lederer and afterwards we commented on how she is much more pleasant than we expected. Katie Hopkins is plainly focused on the money but behind that is a misunderstood lady. Yes, she comes out with some pretty ridiculous things a lot of the time, but don’t we all? Her remarks last night about how fat people ought to weigh in on Ryanair were typically predictable but what interested me was that behind her façade is somebody who is actually intelligent and capable of reason.

Hopkins could be a force for good rather than a troublesome mouthpiece. The real Katie Hopkins ought to come out of the closet: It would do her the world of good to accept such a challenge.

  1. I rather suspected this all along. She can sit next to me at dinner anytime no lull in conversation for sure!

    1. I love Katie Hopkins and I would love to meet her. She is highly intelligent and is never boring. Pity she had been binned from Twitter. Twitter is owned by the Saudis anyway. Full of lefty pc sorts who have a meltdown everytime Trump tweets. I used to love reading her tweets because she wrote what most thought but dare not say especially around Stormzy.

  2. perhaps if you’re getting invited to parties frequented by such odious individuals it’s time to re-evaluate your social circle?

of course katie’s just being awful because it sells. that she does this consciously is surely worse…

  3. I am surely getting soft in my dotage. Yet again one of Peter Wayde’s postings cause me to chuckle – approvingly.
The parade of faux-aristocracy (usually unknown even to the Almanac de Gothe) is preposterous and usually identifies them as much as a flashing strobe light on their bonce. Could the egregious ‘Lord Kincavel” be no more than a self-deluding, so called ‘lord of the manor’? Perhaps Ashish Kulkarni could enlighten us?

  4. Thank you Glenmore
My understanding was it was very poor form for foreigners, with titles in their countries of origin, to use them once settled here. All those strange Napoleonic confections…
So, if you are some ‘baroness’ or ‘viscomte’ now based in London drop your title please.
I did a little research and it seem that Kincavel bought a ‘Lordship of the Manor: probably from http://www.lordshopatthemanor .com
