PETER JUKES
Swindon born Peter Jukes graduated from Queens’ College, Cambridge with a double first in English. A self-declared “Jack of all trades,” Peter’s early plays were performed by Tilda Swinton and Johanna Scalon and his contemporaries at the Cambridge Footlights numbered Hugh Laurie, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson.
During a veritable and varied career, here is a personable polymath who has worked as a journalist, playwright, screenwriter, literary critic and author. Aside from being lauded as an expert in the art of dark comedy, on television and radio, Peter is primarily known for his work in the field of crime thrillers and medical dramas. Credits have included The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, Waking the Dead and Sea of Souls. His opening episode of the third season of Holby City was described by The Guardian as “the televisual equivalent of crack” whilst his 20-part series about the murder of the British private investigator Daniel Morgan topped the UK iTunes podcast chart.
Delving into the phone hacking scandal took Peter down a rabbit hole that resulted in him becoming the first person to ‘live tweet’ a trial on his iPad (with the permission of the presiding judge, Mr Justice Saunders). After spending nearly 9 months doing this in 2013 and 2014 and having written a book about the paradoxes of the News Corp head honcho, Rupert Murdoch, titled The Fall of the House of Murdoch, in 2012, he co-founded the crusading investigative title Byline Times in 2012.
The work of Peter Jukes and his colleagues on topics ranging from Brexit and Cambridge Analytic to Jeffrey Epstein’s expressed desire to establish a church for “confession privilege” have resulted in Byline Times being described as a “counter-balance to the billionaire dominated British press.”

Two faced Phillip Schofield, once a patron and “famous friend” of the 2 Faced Theatre Company, is quite deservedly labelled a “chief narcissist” who is a “liar” and “hated” by Eamonn Holmes
Indicative of someone with a brain clearly stir fried and nothing but the morals of an alley cat, here is a creepy creature who was once somewhat ironically a patron and “famous friend” of a theatre company called 2 Faced who was last night slammed as a “chief narcissist,” a “liar” and “hated” by fellow TV sofa host Eamonn Holmes.
Going further in a GB News feature with Dan Wootton of the warbling wazzock Schofield’s “relationship” with a now 27-year-old one-time actor who is curiously currently being represented by the ritzy law firm Mischon de Reya LLP, Holmes raged:
“It’s a total cover-up, it’s a total cover-up. Those in authority had to know what was going on and they thought they’d dodge a bullet – which they do and they do constantly.”
“With Schofield talking about those who speak out against him – namely me, Amanda Holden, you [Dan Wootton], you’ll be included in the toxicity that goes on… Dr Ranj, of course too. You sit there and suddenly think, no mate, you’ve had it your way for far too long.”
“This nonsense that he wrote today about toxicity, it’s a happy place and whatever… What planet does this man live on? He created an atmosphere where people hated him. People would avoid him in the corridor. He didn’t look at anybody, he didn’t know peoples’ names. Holly doesn’t know peoples’ names either. This is legendary within the production team, that how distant they are and how they just don’t care.”
“Not only should Phillip go, but Holly should follow him out the door. I don’t think you’ll ever see Holly back the couch again.”
“I think now that a few of the Loose Women, if certain executives are moved, maybe they’ll have the courage to tell the truth about what it is, but he was so rude, so dismissive of the Loose Women and you go and you ask and you say: ‘How about Schofield?’ and nobody rates him.”
“He can’t read autocue. His big, wide eyes, shouts when he speaks, like that. He’s rude to everyone around him as has – Nadine Dorries has talked about him as well.”
“My father always says: ‘You can watch a thief, but you can’t watch a liar’ and you don’t know what’s fact and what’s with fiction with him.”
“I think Phillip was absolutely right about toxicity, but, my friend, the toxicity is not with me, Dan Wootton or anybody else, the toxicity is with you and your mates in management and everybody kept you in power and abusive power for so long.”
“If I’m guilty of anything, it’s for speaking up for all those researchers you ignored, all those producers you treated like dirt, all those people who are texting and phoning Dan Wootton and saying: ‘We feel now empowered to come forward, come out and tell the public the truth’ because the truth is the public can’t handle the truth, the public don’t want the truth. They think you’re a little broom cupboard person and they grew up with you and your lovely and adorable and whatever, but you let your fame and your power corrupt you.”
“I didn’t know, but I’ve subsequently found out from a very, very good source, because [Schofield] would arrive much earlier in the morning than I would for the programme, that [the boy] was delivered from Phillip’s London home usually on a Friday morning because Thursday was ‘playtime’ – er, when he and Phillip would hit the town.”
“And then, he obviously stayed overnight and there are records to show that he was brought in the next day separately… in cars paid for by ITV… unless Phillip paid the bills separately, but it would still have to go through the accounts office and they’d have seen that and known.”
“[The boy] was a lovely fella, a really talented fella… He never once talked to us about any relationship, but we knew he was in a bad way. He was in a bad way, fragilely… And, erm, he seemed to go through a lot of money in his life… He needed a lot of money.”
Separately, taking to Twitter prior to the airing of the interview Holmes added:
“Just telling the truth in the face of a coercive controller… A lie unchallenged becomes the truth… Not on my watch it doesn’t Pip. Tonigh is for all my workmates over the years who frightened and ignored by you and your controlling, coercive behaviour. All you who no one listened to. I’m here for you.”
“Schofield has just put out a delusional statement. Like Holly, he puts it on Insta Stories, so if it goes wrong there is no record after 24 hours. I’m reluctant to give the liar any more publicity, but believe me Pip, if you are looking for a fight, you have picked the wrong person!”
In a 2014 showreel, two faced twerp Schofield – whose scumbag ex-policeman brother is now in jail for sexual offences – answered his “lover” asking him about “what we’ll both be doing in three years’ time” with the cryptically creepy comment: “Well, if I’m still getting away with it, I’ll be a happy man.” Most tellingly however, this rotten ratbag neglected to what “it” might actually mean.

A Two Faced Twerp – This morning Matthew Steeples asked: “How will history remember Phillip Schofield?” He added the hashtags: #PhillipSchofield #Schofe #Schofield #DrRanj #EamonnHolmes #Eamonn #RuthLangsford #Ruth #AmandaHolden #DanWootton #DermotOLeary #AlisonHammond #GylesBrandreth #MatthewWright #RichardMadeley #JudyFinnigan #ITV #ThisMorning #television. By 11:30am on Tuesday 30th May 2023, the majority of respondents very clearly favoured the option: “A nasty, bitter bully.”Somewhat ironically, two faced Schofield once appeared in a segment titled: “Groomed by my drama teacher.” He has also been known to dress up in a dress; endearing or just plain weird? The now disgraced and loathed by virtually everyone ex-presenter was once a “patron” and “famous friend” of the 2 Faced Theatre Company run by his ‘chum’ Simon Schofield – who happens not to be related to him, but whom he considers his “rock” supposedly. The 2 Faced Theatre Company is now listed as dissolved; curious that, very curious indeed. Two faced Schofield is known for whining and in one tweet – before he threw a hissy fit and quit leaving missives on Twitter – the warbling wazzock moaned about being the “easiest, most fun person to work with” but being subject to “hateful and wildly untrue stores from nameless ‘sources.’” He concluded: “Obviously, I’ll take it on the chin… I just hope you know me better.” Clearly now, most plainly didn’t.Two faced Schofield is also doing the rounds on Twitter in a series of memes and caricatures; here, at The Dorchester in London, he’s mocked up as the late paedophile Sir Jimmy Savile.
Wacky and weird, two faced Phillip Schofield’s worst moments…
On himself (in spite of being condemned by everyone from Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to Nadine Dorries MP):
“I am only about 26 in my head.”
“If I was a pig to work with, I wouldn’t get asked back.”
“My dad was the archetypal charming man. If I’ve inherited even a small bit of what he had, that would be enough for me.”
“I’m incredibly sentimental, although I’m not one of those people who doesn’t chuck anything out; I don’t keep used tea bags, just special mementos.”
To his supposedly now suffering one-time ‘friend’ turned ‘runner’ (for a time) on This Morning, [*REDACTED*] (whom he met when the young whippersnapper was allegedly somewhere between 10 and 15 years old) asking him about what they might end up doing in three years:
“Well, if I’m still getting away with it, I’ll be a happy man.”
On the world in general:
“We live in a world that has very sharp edges. It can be very bitter.”
On Holly Willoughby (who subsequently has distanced herself from the crying cretin):
“Holly is my rock.”
On being gay (in spite of hidden such for years):
“I thought maybe I was bisexual.”
“If you ask anyone who is gay, they know, there is no confusion.”
“You never know what is going on someone’s head when they think they are leading the perfect life.”
As he cut off invited guests on ‘This Morning’ who he believed misgendered LGBTQX+ sorts:
“We’ll get back to the show and we’ll get back to 2017 and not get back to medieval Britain in just a moment.”
On his now ex-wife’s keenness to be rid of him:
“My wife Steph never tells me to take on less work; she’s just glad to have me out of the house.”
On birthdays:
“I hate birthdays.”
On putting wine ahead of family:
“Wine is the biggest passion of my life without question.”
“I don’t do anything by halves and wine is an expensive passion.”
On preferring to travel alone:
“In general, I’d say that I need to be with the right people in the right place, although one of the best holidays I ever had was alone.”
On quitting Twitter:
“I have another secret Twitter account.”
“There’s nothing that winds me up more on Twitter than people who are stupid and who say the most ridiculous things.”
On the people he’s interviewed:
“I’m not being arrogant or blasé, but I got a bigger buzz sitting opposite Jean-Bernard Delmas at Château Haut-Brion than I did from interviewing Elton John, Liza Minelli or Whitney Houston.”
“You can tell when you look at someone and think: ‘He’s on the brink of fainting’ or that certainly something’s not right.”
On offending people:
“I love the fact we do break taboos.”
Asked why he and Holly Willoughby skipped the 13-hour queue to attend the lying-in-state of the late Queen Elizabeth II:
“Have you got nothing better to do with your time? … Why should I apologise?”
On ghosts and his past life:
“[I have] a rule about never borrowing money… [I was] ‘murdered’ in a past life over a debt… I opened the door to silence and felt horror wash over me. Three steps in, and I saw them – two murdered bodies on the floor. knew they were my wife and small child. Horror turned to fury. I knew why they were dead. I owed money to two brothers who worked at the end of the street in a sawmill. The brother [then] found me, dragged me outside, punched me to the ground and, as my head hit the mud, he repeatedly stamped on it until I was dead!”
“Our back garden is allegedly haunted by a ghost called the Grey Lady. When one of my daughters was three, she said she’d been speaking to a lady in the garden and we went running around trying to find this woman. There was no one there.”
On refusing to go near churches:
“Going into a church reminds of the terrifying vision of [past life] death… [I am] not willing to take the risk again.”
To a flower pot that he felt got in his way on television:
“Go back to where you were, go back to where you were… Only I can see them.”
To Lady Colin Campbell (whom he was interviewing about her latest book on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex):
“For someone who allegedly moves in aristocratic circles, isn’t it all a bit tawdry and undignified? … Paul Burrell, who’d have thought we’d quote him, said of one of your previous books on the Queen: ‘You can only be a true, reliable witness to history if you are there. Lady Colin Campbell was none of these things.’ … You are a gossip. Well, you’re a gossip, but only when it suits you.”
Whilst interviewing television personality Kim Woodburn (who responded by slamming his rudeness):
“I know why people reacted in the way that they reacted to you. It’s because of the way you make me feel sitting on that sofa. You are already making me feel controversial. [You are] confrontational… We’re just asking you a question.”
On dealing with problems (in spite of being the creator of many himself):
“I’m a very good clearer-upper.”
Whilst shockingly sharing a list of ‘names’ of Conservative politicians live on-air with then Prime Minister David Cameron of those he believed might be abusers (he was subsequently forced to apologise and pay £125,000 to Lord McAlpine, an innocent man):
“I have those names there. Those are the names on a piece of paper. You know the names on that piece of paper. Will you be speaking to those people?”
On the ‘work’ he has done:
“I’m not a workaholic.”
“I do have a rule about how much I will take on. The last thing you want is to be on TV too much and for people to be sick of you.”
On being on television:
“I am very conscious of the fact I am in peoples’ living rooms every day and they feel like they know me.”
“I meet people who are so sniffy about daytime TV… Ghastly.”
“I don’t want people turning on the telly and going: ‘Dear God, not him again.’”
Two faced ‘Schofe’s’ extremely curious history… “What’ll come next for this raging ratbag?” is indeed the question…
Gordon The Gopher (also known as ‘Gordon T. Gopher’) was two faced Phillip Schofield’s puppet ‘friend’ on ‘Children’s BBBC’ (‘CBBC’) between 1985 and 1987. The yellow puppet gopher with red pads – which were said to “represent lobster claws” – is amongst the many that the now former ITV ‘This Morning’ presenter turned upon. Of the puppet, Schofield once told ‘Heat’ magazine: “Gordon the Gopher is in rehab. It’s all gone horribly wrong for him. It’s a shame. I’ve got a restraining order against him and we don’t speak. He’s quite bitter and he has been ever since I got my role in ‘Doctor Dolittle’ in the West End and he didn’t get offered the part. It was the straw that broke the gopher’s back.”Phillip Schofield claims not to check Twitter anymore; he has also said he has a ‘secret account’ so most likely does monitor the many thousands of messages slamming his utterly reprehensible antics.Phillip Schofield with his now convicted and now jailed criminal 54-year-old paedophile brother Timothy Schofield in happier times. After the verdict earlier in April – in a case where the television presenter’s civilian police officer sibling was convicted of three counts of causing a child to watch sexual activity and three counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child – in a statement released by his lawyer, Phillip Schofield remarked: “My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected. If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family. These are despicable crimes and I welcome the guilty verdicts. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother.” Timothy Schofield was also found guilty of three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and two of sexual activity with a child at Exter Crown Court and had told the television presenter that he’d “had time together” (including watching porn and masturbating) with a child whilst the ‘This Morning’ host was doing the washing up in his very own kitchen. On 8th November 2012, Schofield handed the then Prime Minister David Cameron a list of names of alleged sex offenders in the Conservative Party which he had found through research on the Internet. That list was partially visible to ‘This Morning’s’ millions of viewers and as a result one person on it, Lord McAlpine, sued. Subsequently, the broadcaster was quite rightly forced to issue and unreserved apology and a statement that read: “ITV and Phillip Schofield have now reached agreement with Lord McAlpine to settle his libel claim, made in relation to the This Morning programme broadcast… ITV and Phillip Schofield apologise unreservedly to Lord McAlpine, have agreed the terms of a statement to be made in open court, and have agreed to pay him damages of £125,000 and his legal costs.” According to ‘International Business,’ “the ITV settlement [was] reportedly less than McAlpine was seeking. However, the peer’s lawyer, Andrew Reid, said he was ‘pleased’ with ITV’s admission that it was wrong and called the settlement ‘pragmatic.’ … Reid told the BBC: ‘The Schofield stunt added fuel to the fire that was already there and we had to take that into account.”Now former ITV1 ‘This Morning’ co-host Phillip Schofield cringed and looked as if he was about to snap when approached outside his West London home by GB News presenter Ben Leo in November 2022 about the ‘Queuegate’ scandal that utterly disgraced him. Here is a mouse-not-a-man who wrongly assumes that he’s some kind of national treasure worthy of not a jot of criticism. The ‘This Morning’ host is known for being a very angry and bitter man. Like Ferne McCann (pictured right), a fellow presenter on ITV1 with a reputation for being an utter rotter and for having had a child with a monster who threw acid over innocent people in a London nightclub, he is also known for being incapable of owning his own mistakes.
As Matthew Steeples appears in a second episode of ‘Schofield: Is There More To This Story?’, we ask: “Who’ll replace weird warbling wazzock Phillip Schofield on ITV1’s ‘This Morning’?”
Last night, on Shaun Attwood’s by the day sky rocketing in viewer numbers YouTube channel, Matthew Steeples returned to chat about the latest developments in the sordid saga of why the “silver soufflé” that is Phillip Schofield has gone from telly-box-treasure to tarnished-turfed-out-trash.
In a week when a February 2020 article from The Steeple Times – titled simply “The Phil & Matt Show” – went viral on our pages and became by far our most read article ever of our thousands of pages of published content since we began in May 2012, it seems that interest in Schofield and his sidekick turned nemesis Holly Willoughby has overtaken that of interest in ‘Wallmart Wallis’ (AKA the former Meghan Markle).
Now, as speculation runs rife about what will come next in this matter, we today highlight who might become the next permanent host (or hosts) on This Morning and also again suggest that ITV would actually do better to put out this somewhat tired show to pasture. They could, instead, dust down their broom cupboard and come up with an entirely new show.
This morning on Boyle Sports, the available betting odds were as follows:
Alison Hammond – 2/1.
Dermot O’Leary – 5/2.
Rylan Clark – 11/4.
Bradley Walsh – 9/2.
Vernon Kay – 5/1.
Stacey Solomon – 12/1.
Marvin Humes – 14/1.
Keith Lemon – 33/1.
Thomas Skinner – 33/1.
Ant & Dec – 40/1.
Alesha Dixon – 50/1.
Amanda Holden – 66/1.
Piers Morgan – 150/1.
Ryan Tubridy – 150/1.
Commenting in response, Steeples observed:
“Whilst I’ve never even heard of Humes, Skinner and Tubridy and Piers Morgan – who’d understandly never ditch the £30 million deal he’s done with Rupert Murdoch at Talk TV and The Sun – has already declared himself out, why aren’t others on this list?”
“The brilliantly bonkers Gyles Brandreth and the equally brilliantly bonkers Christine Hamilton – who herself once made a brilliantly bonkers speech at my very own 21st birthday party back in 2001 – have both sat on the This Morning sofa on many an occasion and there’s no inclusion of other stalwarts including the delights that are Ferne Britton and Matthew Wright either.”
“If the ‘show must go on’ in its present format, these are the kind of people who’d bring both fun and frolicks to our screens, but they’re also capable of serious debate also. ITV would do well to consider them.”
“In reality, whilst I’d prefer to see This Morning disappear from every morning henceforth, the likelihood of more of the same with the undoubtedly voluptuous and vivacious Holly Willoughby and A. N. Other is not a solution. It’s instead time for ‘Willoughbooby’ – as the booby blonde was amusingly once nicknamed by Keith Lemon – to head off to pastures new and it is time for a clean sweep at ITV1.”

Pictured Top – Toxic terror queue jumpers Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are over as “telly treasures” (top left) but who should replace them? How about one-time regulars on the show such as the ex-MP Gyles Brandreth and British battleaxe Christine Hamilton or what about near frontrunner at the bookies Rylan Clark?
This afternoon on Twitter, Matthew Steeples asked: “Who will be next permanent host replacement for Phillip Schofield and who will be there as sidekick on ITV’s ‘This Morning’?” By 12:30pm on Friday 26th May 2023, the majority of respondents favoured the answer: “Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.”Responding to our poll within seconds, both mentioned options – Gyles Brandreth and Christine Hamilton – liked Matthew Steeples’s suggestion. The latter retweeted the missive with the accompanying caption: “I’m up for that – sounds a blast!!!” We respond: “Bring it on.”

Part two was filmed earlier this week and delved into who might replace the dual British – New Zealand citizen on the sofa of a programme that airs Monday to Friday every week.

Part one of Shaun Attwood’s interview with Matthew Steeples was filmed prior to Phillip Schofield deciding to step down from his role as co-host of ITV1’s long running morning show.On Boyle Sports this morning, the current stand-in presenters, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary were at odds of 2/1 and 5/2 respectively to become the next permanent host. Rylan Clark was at 11/4 and though the remainder of the list was made-up of predictable choices, it is a shame that some ‘wildcard’ options were not included.A truly unappealing date – Doing the rounds on social media this morning was an old advert to “win a ‘date’ with Phillip Schofield” from ‘Smash Hits’ magazine. In it, described was “the dream date of a lifetime” – which more sounded more like something akin to hell – of lunch with the since ditched-by-most ‘entertainer’ at “a swank London restaurant” which the winner would be “whisked off to on a “train (or a plane or a boat or whatever it takes).” The advert continued: “[You’ll dine at] one of the snootiest eating establishments in ‘town’ and there waiting to attend your every whim…”Of Schofield’s demise, writing in ‘The Sun’ earlier this week, Piers Morgan stated: “Phillip’s not the evil monster he’s being painted as, nor is he the angel his previously halo-clad reputation suggested. I know a lot of people who loathe him for the way he’s treated them, including my good friends Amanda Holden and Eamonn Holmes. But I also know some of his colleagues, current and past, who speak highly of him and feel genuinely sad that his career is going up in smoke like this. One thing’s for sure, what’s happened to him is further evidence that the abyss-like depths of ruthless backstabbing in the world of daytime television makes even the seething cesspit of Westminster politics seem like an oasis of loyalty by comparison. One-minute Schofield was undisputed king of morning TV and fast heading to bona fide national treasure status – the next he’s a dethroned, shamed, vilified, national disgrace and social media laughing stock. And many of those people he mistakenly thought were faithful friends and colleagues have been happily tossing him on the bonfire in a blizzard of lurid leaks, smears, and damaging headlines. It’s been brutal to watch, but again, entirely unsurprising… I don’t know the full story behind Phillip Schofield’s downfall, but where I feel personal empathy with him is over the manner of his sacking… I, too, was deprived of saying goodbye to my GMB audience and that hurt after putting so much effort into gaining their trust. But he can at least console himself with the fact that he got publicly thanked by his employers.”Aside from appearing on BBC Radio 4’s ‘The Archers’ as a guest earlier this month, Rylan Clark is said to be “taking a break” from his other presenting duties currently. Could this be code for him preparing to take over co-hosting duties on the ‘This Morning’ sofa?A dream trio? Could Christine Hamilton (pictured top with ex-MP husband Neil) team up with Gyles Brandreth and Matthew Wright and take the show into a new era? They’d certainly be able to better cross the divide into discussing ‘more serious matters’ in a way that the lightweight Schofield and Willoughby most certainly never did.
EXCLUSIVE – As ‘Finding Freedom’ author Omid Scobie is snapped at The Dorchester in a pyjama-like outfit, we remind readers of some of the traits and oddities of this bizarre PR peddler for the Duchess of Sussex
Just three days prior to the coronation of King Charles III, the widely respected journalist Alexis Parr – a lady of stature whom was one of the first to call out the various pieces of fake news peddled by the mendacious menace formerly known as Meghan Markle – literally ran into a bedroom wear-clad Omid Scobie as he left London’s ritziest hotel, The Dorchester.
Speaking exclusively to The Steeple Times of her encounter with the YahooNewsUK ‘executive editor (royals)’ columnist – a plastic-not-fantastic-like creature known for continually banging on about his prominence on what he bizarrely labels “the royal beat” – Parr remarked:
“I was surprised to see Scobie as I got out of a cab and asked him where he got his pyjama-like outfit from. He answered: ‘Moss Bros’ and in response I jokingly quipped: ‘Surely you didn’t hire THAT.’”
“He looked at me sheepishly and then – though he allegedly doesn’t imbibe – told me he’d been to a party in the hotel. Sadly, I didn’t get to ask him about his supposedly claiming he was 33 when he was in fact 38 in 2020 or how he has so suddenly and so conveniently remembered discussions with Piers Morgan about phone hacking at The Mirror when he was just 18 years old in 2002 as he clambered into my cab and fled for the hills.”
“I will say that ‘recollections may vary’ was a very accurate analysis by the late Queen of Scobie’s ‘friend’ Meghan and I must add that they clearly do in his case too. I do hope he went home and put on something more suitable for his next engagement.”
Editor’s Note – Unlike as is the case in many publications, this article was NOT sponsored or supported by a third-party. Follow Matthew Steeples on Twitter at @M_Steeples.
Pictured Top – Alexis Parr snapped Omid Scobie as she arrived and he left The Dorchester on 3rd May 2023 (left) and a promotion for the PR peddler’s forthcoming book ‘Endgame’ (right).
This morning on Twitter, Matthew Steeples asked: “Will Meghan Markle’s mouthpiece Omid Scobie prove to be a help or a hinderance when he gives evidence in Prince Harry v Mirror Group News (MGN) court case this week?” By 11:30am on Monday 15th May 2023, the majority of respondents very clearly favoured the answer: “No; he’s spinning yarns.”Omid Scobie is due to testify in court this week in the Prince Harry v Mirror Group News case. According to ‘The Daily Beast’s’ Tom Sykes: “He will testify that when interning at the showbiz desk of MGN Sunday paper ‘The People’ he was given a list of mobile telephone numbers and a verbal description of how to listen to voicemails, as if it were a routine newsgathering technique… [He] will say that he saw Piers Morgan being told that ‘the information had come from voicemails,’ when he questioned a story about the singer Kylie Minogue.”Scobie was called out for allegedly telling ‘porky pies’ by ‘The Sun’s’ Alex Winter in September 2020 in an article titled: “THIRTY-SOMETHING: Omid Scobie tries to explain claims he ‘lied’ to The Times after it was reported he is 33 – when he is actually 38.” The ‘Finding Freedom’ co-author’s bizarre behaviour was unsurprisingly labelled “baffling.”In August 2020, the ‘Daily Mail’ shared that plastic-not-fantastic Omid previously worked at gossip magazine ‘Heat’ and partied with the ‘glamour model’ Jodie Marsh. They mentioned how somebody had “airbrushed” Meghan Markle’s “entry on the online encyclopedia Wikipedia… to include more flattering details days before her romance with Prince Harry became public” and illustrated the ‘Finding Freedom’ author’s “drastic transformation” in two very different photographs.Illustrating himself to be anything but a real journalist, “influencer” Scobie told the ‘Women in Leadership Publication’: “A casual follower be forgiven for thinking that royal news is just fizzy commentary on the pomp and soap opera of The Firm” in their spring 2021 edition. He self-importantly added: “Reaching millions on Twitter has also enabled my own views and advocacy to travel further” and concluded: “I want to do everything I can to ensure that individuals from every background can get a seat at the table.” Here is someone far from a journalist; here, in fact, is someone who should just be called out as the Duchess of Sussex’s PR peddler.Whilst Omid Scobie’s podcast, #TheHeirPod, was “downgraded from ‘a real chore’ to ‘unlistenable’” according to ‘Royal Analysis,’ the true revelation is that it isn’t even popular in the places where it surely should be most relevant, Britain and America. An analysis of Omid Scobie’s Twitter feed clearly shows that a large proportion of his followers are a bit like himself: FAKE.
When he’s not bragging about wearing Balenciaga, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior or sharing photos of his dog, Yoshi, on his Instagram account, the ‘Finding Freedom’ author constantly bangs on about how he believes the royal family to have racist elements. His speculation is rarely supported by anything other than unnamed sources that give his suggestions little to no credibility.
Canadian waiter turned Soho House director Markus Anderson was allegedly the person to have introduced Prince Harry and the then Meghan Markle. This “champagne partial” individual has been repeatedly linked also to Omid Scobie online on sites such as Quora whilst the site ‘Royal Analysis’ has reported: “Well, apparently, Omid and Markus used to be very close. I don’t think it’s out of the question for Markus to have facilitated Meghan and Omid getting together to strategize about what positive press coverage Omid could give to Meghan.”
What’s the truth about the many ‘curious stories’ that abound about the Duchess of Sussex?
Of her claiming having got married the day before she actually did, Mr Markle stated: “Lying about the archbishop? How can you say: ‘We’ve been married three days before we got married’? Her lies are so obvious, I don’t know why she says them.”
Her very own half-sister, Samantha Markle, who is currently bringing a defamation case against her, has called her out as a liar on multiple occasions also. It has been proven that the duchess’s claim that she hasn’t seen her sibling in over 20 years was untrue given a photo of the pair together 14 years ago proves quite to the contrary.
Her very own half-brother, Thomas Jr., said of her: “I told Prince Harry, I think she’s going to ruin your life. She’s very shallow… She’s a phony, a bully, a jaded, shallow, conceited woman.”
The wife of Prince Harry has been called out on multiple occasions for spinning stories against other members of the royal family, most especially the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Queen Camilla.
Staff who’ve worked for her have complained that she is a bully and investigations into this remain ongoing.
The Duchess of Sussex is a known manipulator of the press and paparazzis and it has been claimed that she’ll “twist the truth” to get any headline she wants.
Questions remain as to how many times she’s actually been married in total. Some say twice, some say thrice.
What’s the truth about Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland? Is this clearly equally manipulative woman an honest and decent citizen or is she a jailbird who has spent time in the clink?
Did the ‘Montecito Meddler’ meet Prince Andrew or Prince Harry first? Rumours abound that she could have spent time and holidayed with the former as long ago as 2001 and that her claim to have no prior knowledge of the royal family until 2016 is just utter baloney.
As mucky madam Ghislaine Maxwell gets a new appeal lawyer in spite of owing a fortune to her previous representatives, journalist Daphne Barak PR peddles for her after posing for pictures with the feckless fool that is the ultimate grifter, Sarah, Duchess of York
It must be noted that scum tends to inevitably float to the top of any pond and that birds of a feather tend to stick together. Examples of such came last week with revelations that Ghislaine Maxwell is now being represented by the pugnacious paedophile Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer and that a PR peddler named Daphne Barak is about to share a new interview with the noxious nonce in the coming days.
Whilst Barak – whom also posed for snaps with she who has never confirmed if she repaid loans taken from the croaked paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Sarah, Duchess of York last month – was this morning given acreage to promote her ‘interview’ with her old chum of many years in both The Sun on Sunday and The Mail on Sunday, it was Page Six that revealed that Maxwell was becoming “jailbirds of a feather” with her old chum Weinstein after taking on attorney Arthur L. Aidala.
Maxwell (AKA prisoner 02879-509), who is now laughably also supposedly currently teaching “etiquette lessons” in the clink if the Independent is to be believed, still owes a sum estimated at £3 million ($3.7 million, €3.4 million or درهم13.5 million) to lawyers previously hired by her, her brother Kevin and her estranged husband Scott Borgerson.
Editor’s Note – Unlike as is the case in many publications, this article was NOT sponsored or supported by a third-party.
Pictured Top – Ghislaine Maxwell with Jeffrey Epstein sat outside a cabin at Balmoral during a visit their when they supposedly met the late Queen even – if Daphne Barak is to be believed. Of this, Barak shares that Maxwell has now declared: “The Queen was one of the most exceptional women I ever had the honour and privilege of meeting.” The convicted sex trafficker added that the monarch had a “sparkle” in her eyes and declared she was “profoundly sorry” to learn of her death last year.
Birds of a rotten feather… The gruesome trio of paedophiles that was Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell pictured at a party given by he who paid a sum alleged to be as high as £12 million to a woman he claimed he never met, Prince Andrew, at Windsor Castle in 2006.Arthur L. Aidala is very much of the publicity hungry school of lawyers. Aside from Harvey Weinstein, his firm, Aidala, Bertuna & Kamins, has also represented other mates of Ghislaine Maxwell including Alan Dershowitz. In documents submitted this week, he claimed: “[Maxwell] was malnourished… And yet she’s supposed to sit for a trial [with her] life on the life… In the United States of America, anyone who’s accused of any crime should not be abused by the US government the way she was abused… She did not get a fair trial… The judge ignored the many claims of malnourishment, living with vermin in her cell, lack of sleep, and overall deplorable conditions. There were also issues regarding lack of access to her lawyers. This is all in violation of her fundamental constitutional rights and will be powerfully brought to the attention of the appellate courts.” Of how he came to be involved with the mucky madam and her family, scions of a pension pot plundering tyrant, Aidala added: “After her sentencing… her trial team was done representing her and her family quite frankly reached out to us. Obviously we’d been in the headlines with Mr Weinstein’s case.”Scotch drinking “Arthur cancels ‘cancel culture’” Aidala – pictured with Harvey Weinstein – was described in a July 2022 article in ‘The New York Times’ as “camera-ready” and “a lawyer who welcomes press attention.” Amongst this registered Democrat’s previous clients are the accused “socialite granny shover” Lauren Pazienza, the crossdressing oddity Rudolph W. Giuliani, cleared “killer crane rigger” William Rapetti, “daddy’s penis chopper-offer” Brigitte Harris and “boyfriend stabber” John Pickett. Of him, Alan Dershowitz tellingly remarked: “Arthur is the new me.”Daphne Barak pictured in December with Sarah, Duchess of York and with Hillary Clinton – whom she references her as having “hosted” and “supported the presidential bid” of. Here is a ‘journalist’ whose close connections clearly muddy her mind when it comes to interviewing her subjects. Why didn’t this ‘journalist’ ask mucky madam Maxwell about ‘Killary’s’ husband taking at least 27 flights on Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘Lolita Express’ and his convicted sex trafficker co-collaborator attending Chelsea Clinton’s wedding? Curious that; very curious indeed.
As Piers Morgan gets hacked on Twitter, we remind readers of his ongoing spat with the especially ‘Hacked Off’ actor Hugh Grant
The scourge of the red tops that is the actor Hugh Grant tweets from the handle @HackedOffHugh and ironically last night, one of his favourite targets, Piers Morgan – who formerly worked at papers that most definitely engaged in phone hacking – literally found himself hacked also.
Targeted supposedly by what the DailyMail.com’s James Gordon subsequently termed “a foul-mouthed troll” on Twitter, Morgan’s 8.3 million followers witnessed “[his] account sending out expletive-laden messages.”
The hackers, supposedly a group named the “Chuckling Squad” initially demanded the recognition of “the territorial integrity of Somalia” and used hashtags including #HandsOfSomalia [sic]. One can only presume them to have been a little illiterate and probably to have meant to have tweeted suggested “hands off” instead.
According to Mr Gordon: “The group purportedly behind the attack, Chuckling Squad, is a group of hackers who gained notoriety in 2019 for taking over a number of high-profile Twitter accounts, including those belonging to various celebrities and public figures.”
Though Morgan and Grant’s public spats have been longstanding, their pugnacity most definitely peaked in December 2019 when the pressman and the press reform campaigner “traded insults at each other for many hours” on Twitter.
In one missive, at that time, Morgan declared of Grant and fellow actor Steve Coogan sharing their views about the then ongoing general election campaign: “Who gives a flying f**k what Coogan and Grant have to say about this election? Honestly, the stupefying pomposity of these clowns trying to thwart democracy is beyond parody.” In another, he added: “I suggest you put the halo away, ‘Saint’ Hugh.”
Responding, before getting sent back pictures of himself after his 1995 arrest for participating in “lewd conduct” in a public place with Divine Brown near Sunset Boulevard, California, Grant observed: “Your paper caved and paid off millions to hundreds of victims of phone hacking. And issued grovelling apology. Those were the civil cases. As for criminal charges… I refer to my old friends Mr Tick and Mrs Tock. Happy Xmas.”
In January 2020, Morgan – whose full name is actually Piers Pughe-Morgan and whose birth name was Piers O’Meara – went further and branded Grant “a stuck-up arrogant twerp” and “disgusting” after the latter branded the election result “a catastrophe” and claimed “the country is finished.”
Marmite-like Morgan, loved and loathed in equal measure in Britain and beyond, attended a lunch in Mayfair just before Christmas earlier this month where fellow guests included not only his ‘Brenemy’Jeremy Clarkson, but also the Queen Consort, Camilla. Fans of the mendacious menace formerly known as Meghan Markle subsequently went mental.
Editor’s Note – Unlike as is the case in many publications, this article was NOT sponsored or supported by a third-party.
The veteran newsman’s account was targeted supposedly by a group named the Chuckling Squad, but it did also share a picture of someone who accompanied a picture with the hashtags #selfie and #Somalia.Pictured here with monstrous sex offenders Harvey Weinstein, Max Clifford, Rolf Harris, Gary Glitter and Ghislaine Maxwell, the Marmite-like figure of Morgan is someone whose controversial comments make him a natural target. His decisions to call out the Duchess of Sussex and to repeatedly involve himself with Donald Trump have also attracted ire and praise in equal measure. Some people have gone as far as to laud the former ‘Mirror’ editor a “National Icon” whilst others such as Lord Justice Leveson referenced his testimony under oath on phone hacking at the Leveson Inquiry as “utterly unpersuasive.” In May 2011, the journalist and broadcaster banned Hugh Grant from his shows “in perpetuity” after Grant “spoke out against the need for the tabloid press.”
Twitter users reacts to Piers Morgan’s account being hacked…
As residents of a village near Doncaster call a jackdaw named ‘Derek’ “horrible” and a “menace,” Facebook’s ‘Angry People in Local Newspapers’ group unsurprisingly tear these nasty NIMBYs apart
There are 1.4 million breeding pair of western jackdaws (corvus mondeula) in the United Kingdom according to the RSPB’s A-Z of Birds and they are quite rightly protected by The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Known for the “metallic chack of its call,” this small, black crow with “noticeable” pale eyes and a “distinctive silvery sheen” is lauded as “intelligent” and “subtly handsome.” They are loved by many, but the majority of the residents of Rossington, near Doncaster have come out to share their hatred of one particular example who frequents their locality.
Reporting on how the jackdaw in question has “been bringing fear to Rossington for a number of years,” the clearly wild bird – which most are ridiculously claiming to be a “domesticated pet” – stands accused of “divebombing” children and attacking workers. It has been termed “horrible” and one resident went as far as to rage: “I will shoot the thing and I don’t give a sh*t who owns it.”
Rather like with a pugnacious pensioner named John Aeberhard of Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire – who wanted to electrocute otters and catch herons in wires and whom was featured in The Steeple Times after being highlighted on APILN in March 2020 – the hateful people of this South Yorkshire former mining village clearly have no appreciation of the “gregarious” nature of a bird that Shootinguk observes: “Can be taught to imitate the human voice. Like all crows, they are the most intelligent of birds.”
Derek is clearly too bright for the ‘Doleites’ (the regional nickname for locals) of Doncaster; one can only hope he flies off to pastures new before he meets a sticky end at the hands of the nasty NIMBYs of Rossington.
Residents of Rossington on ‘Derek’:
Known originally as ‘daws’ (a name meaning “knavish or stupid person”), the Old English ‘jack’ (referencing “something small”) was added in the 16th century. A collective name for a group of them is a “clattering” – as Shootinguk claims it “perfectly evokes the noise made by a large group travelling between roosts and feeding grounds.”
Of this now infamous example of a bird that has wingspan average of 70cm and which normally lives for 5 to 6 years, residents of Rossington told Darren Burke:
Against (the majority):
“Horrible.”
“A menace.”
“That bloody bird.”
“Cannot stand the bird.”
“The thing is a menace.”
“It comes to something when kids can’t even go into their own garden without being petrified because of that bloody bird divebombing them trying to attack them.”
“To whomever owns the horrible thing, if you want to try domesticate a bird like that then keep it at home because if it hurts my kids there will be hell to pay and I don’t care who that offends.”
“The thing is a menace, attacking kids in school playground, on the street, in their own garden. If it was any other animal it would have been put to sleep following the first attack on a child.”
“Angry isn’t the word. I don’t care who thinks I’m overreacting or it’s just a bird but it could take someone’s eye out.”
“They got made to come in and have indoor break at school last week coz [he] was attacking kids on playground.”
“Me and my colleague was working outside at a customer’s house and got ambushed by [him]. He’s an absolute terror.”
“I hope it doesn’t attack one of my grandkids. I will shoot the thing and I don’t give a sh*t who owns it.”
“A horrible, nasty little thing.”
“A feathered fiend.”
“Demonic.”
In favour (the minority):
“Good old Derek.”
“It’s a wild bird, no one owns it.”
“My kids were feeding him earlier, he’s ace.”
“Does it wear a balaclava and ride a quad? It’s a bird!”
“Derek’s mint! Just carry a bag of crisps and he will love you forever lol [sic] he just wants to be your friend!”
“My daughter has told me a few times that Derek has caused all the kids to go inside at play time at school she said most of the kids love him.”
“Poor Derek – I know the bird please leave it alone it means no harm.”
“The village mascot.”
Doncaster Free Press reporter Darren Burke with an update on some of the news and sports stories in Doncaster today pic.twitter.com/X8JZMH7G5T
In March 2021, Darren Burke tweeted a plea for stories. Plainly lacking in breaking news content this week, he wrote of ‘Derek’ the Doncaster jackdaw’s antics rather than Shell’s massive profits or Elon Musk taking over Twitter, but most curiously did not cite the names of a single one of his sources.Of his something he’d written yesterday about the Don Valley MP Nick Fletcher declaring he’d be backing Rishi Sunak, Mr Burke observed this morning: “Looks like a few of my words today have ruffled a few feathers. Good. It’s what we’re here to do.” Clearly, the local journalist was anticipating his plans for his next story on “the thing is a menace” bird, Derek.Mr Burke clearly moved on from his “horrible bird” story, published on the morning of Thursday 27th October 2022, as by the early afternoon he was tweeting about “threats” he’d received from those that had read his works on Twitter. Of these, he remarked: “One of the favourite ‘threats’ I have as a journalist is when an angry individual tells you they have screenshots of the conversation you’ve had with them. What you gonna do, send ‘em to King Charles? Joe Biden? Putin?”
A stunningly filmed ‘must watch’ YouTube video by North Yorkshire based Robert E. Fuller – viewed over 5.2 million times already since being uploaded in May 2021 – features a kestrel defending its nest against a jackdaw. The tenacity of both is simply amazing; clearly the people of Rossington, Doncaster ought to appreciate their enthusiastic resident a little bit more.
Members of the Facebook group ‘Angry People In Local Newspapers’ react to the ‘Doncaster Free Press’ story:
Bonhams to sell amusing letters from “alcoholic crank” and author John O’Hara that examine the difference between “arse” and “ass;” of his work ‘BUtterfield 8’ Elizabeth Taylor once raged: “I think it stinks!”
“Bingeworthy” American short story author John O’Hara (1905 – 1970) was once described as “may not [having] been the best story writer of the twentieth century, but he [was] the most addictive.”
“Unfashionable in literary circles in the 1960s” and known for his “easily bruised ego, alcoholic crankiness, long-held resentments and politically conservative views,” an amusing letter from O’Hara – whose notable works included Appointment in Samarra and BUtterfield 8 – that was held in the collection of the Frasier screenwriter and producer David Lloyd (1934 – 2009) is to be auctioned by Bonhams in Los Angeles this month.
Written on 9th July 1938 to one Mr Mavrogordato and sent from 52 Chesil Court, Manor Street, Chelsea, London, SW3 – which was also for a time home to the “cheeky Cockney” actor Harry Fowler MBE (1926 – 2012) – the second of the letters points to the difference between the word “arse” in England and its counterpoint “ass” in America. It reads:
“In America the word is pronounced and spelled ass. In England, where I have had one book published, and another to be published in September, they spell it your way in my books. I happen to think it’s inconsistent to do that with a writer whose stuff is so completely American, but after a certain point has been reached, I always let publishers have their way.”
It comes with an earlier typed letter dated 4th July 1938 written to Fred J. Feldkamp (1914 – 1981), the editor of For Men, in which O’Hara submits an article (not present with the lot). The author informs that he will be “traveling through Europe for most of the summer” and complains:
“I admit that I was a little surprised at the small size of the cheque for the other piece, but we can take that up when I get home. Over here every little bit helps, and anyway it takes so God damn long to argue by mail.”
Whether this argumentative author subsequently made an “arse” or an “ass” of himself with his bosses remains unknown, but one thing is for sure, John O’Hara considered Americans above Brits to the end. In 1952, he concluded: “Sometimes I almost feel that I ought to apologize [sic] for having the ability to write good dialogue, and yet it’s the attribute most lacking in American writers and almost totally lacking in the British.”
Pictured top – One of the two letters that Bonhams are to sell on 10th August (left) and its “among the greatest short-story writers in English, or in any other language” – according to his fellow ‘New Yorker’ contributor Brendan Gill (1914 – 1997) – author John O’Hara (right).
A July 2013 ‘Chicago Tribune’ tribute to the “floating from one newspaper job to another… generally fired in a matter of months” author by Rick Kogan began: “John O’Hara was not a nice man, but he was, for a while, one hell of a great writer.” It ends: “As you might have guess, he wrote his own epitaph: ‘Better than anyone else, he told the truth about his time. He was a professional. He wrote honestly and well.’ ‘Better than anyone else?’ C’mon. ‘Honestly and well’? I can’t argue that.”Elizabeth Taylor starred in the 1960 drama film adaptation of O’Hara’s novel ‘BUttterfield 8” alongside her then husband Eddie Fisher. In spite of it being MGM’s biggest hit that year, Taylor “hated it” and cuttingly commented: “I still say in stinks.”“Witty” and known for being passionate about the “relationship of a man and his typewriter” David Lloyd – pictured with his son Christopher in 1998 with Emmy awards for ‘Frasier’ and the longtime owner of the letters and other lots to be offered on 10th August – died in November 2009 of prostate cancer. He was the co-creator of ABC’s ‘Modern Family’ and known for “his enormous first edition collection (a stunning number of which he actually read) and travelling the world with his leading lady.” His favourite restaurant, La Dolce Vita, has a dish named ‘Lambchops Lloyd’ on its menu in his honour.
Mother of God! Law firm give notice that the Duchess of Sussex’s pugnacious PR peddler Omid Scobie has been sent a cease and desist letter and reported to the Metropolitan Police regarding “the harassment, threats and stalking of Sadie Quinlan”
Legal action is being taken to attempt to end “the harassment, threats and stalking of Sadie Quinlan [AKA ‘Yankee Wally’]” by the Duchess of Sussex’s pugnacious PR peddler Omid Scobie.
In a very brief 0:31-minute segment shared on Monday by the ‘Montecito Royale’ channel on YouTube, a notice from a firm named GW Law International was shared. It announced:
“We have now taken the first steps to end the harassment, threats and stalking of Sadie Quinlan.”
“An extensive police report to the Metropolitan Police has been filed by our firm on behalf of Sadie Quinlan regarding the malicious actions of Omid William Scobie.”
“This will now be follow-up by a cease and desist letter.”
“We will take legal action if Mr. Scobie does not comply.”
“Best regards, The staff of GW Law International.”
‘Montecito Royale’ accompanied the segment – which has already been watched over 7,400 times and liked by 1,100 YouTube accounts – with the caption:
“This is an announcement regarding preparations for legal proceedings.”
“I personally advice [sic] Mr. Scobie to take note of this public notice. It is not a good look to be globally known for harassing elderly little ladies… It kind of kills your career. The court of public opinion can be very cruel.”
“Omid William Scobie has sat there in his little poncy seat like his s**t doesn’t smell. That’s basically how he’s gone about this, but behind the scenes, he’s been the dirtiest, lowlife scumbag ever and he’s been getting orders from Meghan and Harry – what to do about ‘Yankee Wally’ and this is why, everywhere I go now, I’ve been shutdown, I’ve been de-platformed and his goal is to get me off Rumble and then his job is complete.”
“He makes money by removing me, by complaining about me. Empty threats, empty complaints, I beg your pardon, with no substance, but of course the algorithms, so many of them, so many of them pick up these complaints without looking into them to see if it really is a human being complaining.”
“And I get 100 complaints because Scobie is bossing, telling Chris Bouzy what to do, so there’s money in it. There’s money travelling from Harry and Meghan to Omid Scobie to Chris Bouzy and then out to the Sussex Squad.”
“Omid Scobie is the one behind all of this. Christopher Bouzy’s still there, but he’s taking orders from Omid William Scobie and that is why he’s had the cease and desist and the police have had a big report on him.”
“So, let’s see how he behaves tomorrow. Let’s see how Christopher Bouzy behaves tomorrow. Let’s see their reactions when this gets back to them and it will.”
Today we salute Sadie Quinlan and her supporters for standing up to the cowardly Finding Freedom ‘author’ and paraphrasing Superintendent Hastings from the BBC’s hit drama series Line of Duty conclude: “Mother of God! …. Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey, can we just move this thing Scobie along before it drives us all round the bloody bend?”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2-amDpI8O0
The ‘Finding Freedom’ author clearly ain’t having the best of months. Exposed first for the fact that he hasn’t been running an exactly ship-shape company, the mendacious minx formerly known as Meghan Markle’s PR peddler now finds himself in decidedly boiling hot water in the legal arena also.Prone to trying to erase his own past – and wouldn’t anyone want to if they could only boast of having worked at the trash-mag that is ‘Heat’ and hung out with the decidedly lowbrow lush that is Jodie Marsh – Scobie likes to give out the schtick, but he is incapable of taking it back.Sadie Quinlan is not alone in being targeted by ‘MeGain’s’ “cheerleader.” The ‘Daily Mail’s’ Richard Eden finds himself regularly targeted both by the “anti-monarchist agitator” and his tawdry associates, the extremely tedious twerps that are the ‘Sussex Squaddies.’
Matthew Steeples suggests those moaning that Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial should have been covered by the media in the same way as Johnny Depp’s libel suit do not understand the differences between the two cases; there is simply no “conspiracy” or “cover-up” going on here
In April 2014, whilst promoting the film Transcendence, Johnny Depp remarked: “People get famous now for I-don’t-know-what.” He was right and the level of interest in both his British and American court appearances and that of Ghislaine Maxwell’s 2021 trial have provided opportunity for goodness only knows how much of the dirty linen of famous faces to be grubbily bandied around.
Now, amongst others ‘blue ticked’ on Twitter Nick Adams, a “four-time best-selling author” and presidential appointee in the Trump administration, are rather stupidly asking: “Why didn’t the Ghislaine Maxwell trial have the same transparency as the Johnny Depp trial?”
Many others – including some you’d clearly expect better of – go further and ludicrously suggest it to be a “conspiracy” that Maxwell’s criminal trial wasn’t aired on television, whilst Depp’s civil trial of libel allegations has been. Quite rightly, however, this week AP News’s Angelo Fichera called out this “widely shared misinformation” for what it truly is – sheer claptrap and utter baloney.
As was also pointed out by the crusading author of Ghislaine Maxwell: An Unauthorized BiographyKirby Sommers on Twitter also, the Maxwell matter was held in a federal court and “federal courts do not allow cameras like some state courts do.” Depp’s civil suit, meanwhile, is taking place in a county circuit court and as, Fichera adds, “that court court does allow photo and video with a judge’s permission.”
Frankly, it is as simple as that and the “Conservative activist” who Fichera quoted who tweeted: “Sooooo, the Johnny Depp trial can be live streamed but the Maxwell trial can’t? Make that make sense” really ought to just learn to keep up.
Whilst many of us, myself included, would very much liked to have watched the mucky madam and daughter of a pension pot plundering and wartime murderer squirm before the cameras as she was convicted, the rules are the rules and there simply was no “gag order” in the case of Ghislaine Maxwell.
Pictured top – Though both now internationally known, the legal matters that this acclaimed actor and this notorious sex trafficking mucky madam are now forever linked to are being handled by the American legal system quite correctly. One was dealt with in a federal court whilst the other is a civil matter and that is exactly why media coverage – including most pertinently video footage – of these cases has been not-allowed and allowed respectively.
Crusading author Kirby Sommers very accurately summed up the differences between the two cases in a tweet shared on 22nd April 2022. It pointed out the differences between “federal” and “civil” case and ended: “Please learn the difference.”Self-anointed “quintessential example of a 21st American Dream story” and one-time news anchor ‘Dame’ Brigitte Gabriel – a “survivor of terrorism” and “NYT best-selling author” told her 435,800 Twitter followers: “The media live streams the Johnny Depp trial and not the Ghislaine Maxwell trial because they think we’re stupid” on 23rd April. Clearly, ‘Dame’ Brigitte ought to be sent to a school in fact checking and learn she’s been duped by what Donald Trump might term “fake news, fake news.”Equally, 2022 Republican candidate for Governor of Georgia Shane Hazel is another fine example of a boorish berk who doesn’t get it. He tweeted: “When the news covers Johnny Depp 24/7 but didn’t say shit about Epstein & Ghislaine Maxwell you can be sure it’s because American billionaires are molesting kids” on 22nd April. Mr Hazel has an astonishing 38,900 followers; followers he’s clearly misleading whilst at the same time running for high office. Those claiming to be “kept in the dark” about the criminal trial of the late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s one-time lover and co-conspirator in sex trafficking whilst banging on about the live-streaming of an actor’s libel action simply do not understand that there is no conspiracy going on in terms of how media coverage of such matters is handled.Twitter users have gone utterly bonkers about this, let’s be frank, non-issue. Live-streaming is allowed in some courts and it is not in others and those screaming “conspiracy” and “cover-up” from the rooftops on this subject simply need to accept that there was no “gag-order” in the case of media coverage of the pension pot plunderer’s daughter’s December 2021 trial in New York.Continuing, the anything but rational Twitterati claimed “money doesn’t talk, it shuts everyone up” whilst others suggested “LMAO” of how the French born associate of amongst others Jean-Luc Brunel, the Duke of York and Harvey Weinstein “couldn’t be recorded” whilst the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’s’ legal case can.Amongst words used of the two matters were “distractions” and “should tell you all you need to know.” Wallaby killer Russell Brand even got a mention. The very same conspiracy theorists claimed also a “media blackout” in the 2021 case whilst the 2022 one “live-streamed for all to see.” One argued: “You can clearly see the media’s agenda here” and another added: “I know which one I care about the most.” Others brought up their thoughts on Ukraine, Hunter Biden and his father, 46th President of the United States of America Joe Biden. Here are people who believe the current coverage is “a joke” yet here also are people who cannot accept that the mucky madam’s trial was heard in a federal court in New York – a place where cameras simply are not allowed to be present.“Something stinks” and “hush hush” claimed one Scot named Gordon Cameron of what he and countless others on social media believe to be a case lacking in transparency of Maxwell’s trial. He and those like him would do better to ask why none of those that the decidedly deviant mucky madam supplied her victims to have yet been brought before the justice system. As the cook and football club owner Delia Smith once slurred (whilst drunk admittedly): “Come on, let’s be ‘avin ya.”
The libel case brought by the star of ‘The Tourist’ against his ex-wife Amber Heard has descended into moments of comedy and mirth. It is completely the antithesis of the trial of the one-time lover of Prince Andrew – a trial in which victims of sex trafficking and abuse by the powerful and the privileged was very clearly highlighted. Shamefully, however, none of those other powerful and privileged individuals have yet been brought to book. With sentencing due on the 28th June in the Maxwell case, one can only hope that justice will finally be served on the other evil parties who’ve still to this day remained under the radar.
