Priced at £275,000 and in a state of ruin, Cocklick Farmhouse at Slaidburn near Clitheroe in Lancashire is currently for sale through agents Armistead Barnett.
Standing on a small plot and currently owned by United Utilities, this wreck is sold on a leasehold basis with 997 years remaining and has planning permission for conversion to provide 4 reception room and 4 bedrooms. Inspection is said to be at the “entire risk of the viewer”.
Cocklick Farm is situated within the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – which, in the main, is owned by the Queen’s Duchy of Lancaster and the Duke of Westminster’s Abbeystead estates. It certainly also has much in common with Uncle Monty’s ‘Crow Crag’ country retreat (which is in reality is called Sleddale Hall and which until recently was also owned by United Utilities) as it doesn’t even have running water.
