Five of the best: Deals for those visiting the 100th RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The Steeple Times suggests five of the best deals to accompany the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

‘The Season’ is nearly upon us and we at The Steeple Times especially look forward to a number of events. Our favourite has to be Masterpiece (26th June to 3rd July) but we also love the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (21st to 25th May). Below, we suggest a few other ideas for readers visiting the show:

 RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2009

Set menu at Elistano

Elistano 400

Elistano has long been a favourite of The Steeple Times and visitors to the Chelsea Flower Show would do well to book ahead as this neighbourhood restaurant is offering a set menu for lunch and dinner at just £15.95 for two courses and £18.95 for three. The Italian cuisine is first class and the restaurant reports that they’ve had many bookings already from Royal Horticultural Society members.

Oysters and champagne at The Botanist pop-up

Botanist 400After touring the gardens, you could sample freshly-shucked oysters at The Botanist’s pop-up in the middle of Sloane Square. Half a dozen will be priced from £15 and champagne will be available at £9 a glass or £52 a bottle. The champagne bar will be open from 21st to 25th May inclusive. We say: “Cheers to that!”

Picnic with Partridges

Partridges 400Partridges, like the Chelsea Flower Show, is an institution. This Royal Warrant holding store has everything one might need to create a picnic to take to the show. Though it is far from cheap, Partridges stocks a huge variety of unusual produce and if you’re spending upto £65 on a ticket, you may as well also splash out on some great nosh to take with you.

Bed, brunch and botany at the Belgraves

Belgraves 400The Belgraves, a Thompson Hotel in Pont Street is truly getting into the spirit of all things to do with Chelsea Flower Show. With a package priced from £650 for two, the hotel is offering a “bed, brunch and botany” deal with a menu featuring buttercup eggs benedict and basil poached peaches. Guests booking one of the suites will also get an Edible Flower recipe book to take home and additionally, the hotel will transform its terrace into what they’re calling the “Edible Garden”. Florally inspired cocktails shall be served and a wall of edible flowers will be created.

Afternoon tea at The Dorchester

Dorchester 400The Dorchester’s executive chef Henri Brosi has designed a collection of floral-inspired cakes and pastries in honour of the centenary of the Chelsea Flower Show. They will be served daily from 20th May until 26th May. Priced at £51 per person, the offer includes a glass of Laurent Perrier NV champagne and a small bag of lavender to take home.
