Peers’ Dining Room at the House of Lords to open to the public for the first time during the run-up to the General Election
Food at the Palace of Westminster is notoriously akin to what you’d find at any public school, but now there’s opportunity for members of the public to try it after it was decided to open the House of Lords Peers’ Dining Room to the public in the run up to the General Election.
On offer is a three course lunch priced at £35 featuring such dishes as a starter of St George’s mushroom vol-au-vent, a main of slow cooked ox cheek with Irish champ and a steamed date and walnut pudding for dessert. Reservations are available between Tuesday 14th April and Friday 8th May and available by clicking here.

Potential diners should be advised that regulars have not always left satisfied. In 2014, The Independent reported that peers had complained about being left “scarred” after having had their dinner bookings cancelled and were angered by the size of the menus, “chaotic” table layouts and “inferior cappuccinos”. Thank goodness they didn’t take to TripAdvisor.
