It is right that Oscar Pistorius has been convicted of culpable homicide

This morning Oscar Pistorius was convicted of culpable homicide – the South African equivalent of the UK’s manslaughter charge – and one charge relating to a restaurant shooting. That he showed no emotion as he was convicted is telling.

Pistorius’ defence argued that he could not have known that firing a gun into a confined space would have resulted in the death of whoever was on the other side of the door he shot at. The judge, however, saw sense and justice has prevailed.
