An insight into the new life of Max Clifford
In a press release sent to The Steeple Times, the author Ian Hitchings has revealed details about disgraced publicist Max Clifford’s new life in Wandsworth Prison. Hitchings’ exact sources are not revealed but on questioning, he emailed stating that “they are all civil servants and definitely not prisoners”.
In the 4-page document, Hitchings shares information ranging from the clothes Clifford has chosen as his prison attire (T-shirts and tracksuit bottoms) to the courses he’s opted to enroll on (Social & Life Skills, English, Current Affairs, IT and Gardening).

More tellingly, the author states that Clifford has “somewhat arrogantly blatantly refused to participate in any of those prison/probation run courses which has the slightest significants [sic] to the offences for which he was convicted or to even consider addressing his offending behaviour” and “let it be known in no uncertain terms, that he considers those requesting him to undertake course work as pompous and ‘up-their-own-backside’ officials who think “they know best’”.
Plainly a man who remains in “vehement denial and unwilling to accept any responsibility for his crimes”, Clifford – who is being held in a vulnerable prisoners’ unit named The Onslow Centre – “hasn’t shown a flicker of remorse” and is described as cutting a “lonely figure” and “cautious of his fellow inmates because he doesn’t know what their motives are”. He is said to “fearlessly resent being removed from the public glare” and most bizarrely is supposedly seen rummaging through the black plastic recycling bins on his wing for all the previous day’s tabloid newspapers. Clifford, Hitchings reports, takes these back to the cell where he remains locked up for 20 hours per day.
Hitchings concludes by stating that The Metropolitan Police are investigating new allegations against Clifford as part of Operation Yewtree but does not comment on whether those who supported him during his trial – including Des O’Connor, Pauline Quirk, Peter Stringfellow, Jilly Johnson, Freddie Starr and Lauren Goodger – have visited yet. These individuals, if they have any sense, will keep well away. The toxic sex fiend Max Clifford deserves to rot.
