Stuart Hall’s sentencing must set an example to others

 

Stuart Hall’s fall will be complete today when he is sentenced at Preston Crown Court in relation to 14 counts of indecent assault. A prison sentence is inevitable and it will be much deserved.

Stuart Hall pictured with William Roache and Owen Oyston. All three have been accused of having had sex with girls under sixteen. Oyston was jailed after being convicted of rape in 1996 and Hall will be sentenced after being convicted on 14 counts of indecent assault this morning. Roache will be tried in January 2014 in relation to historical sex offences against five girls. Both Roache and Hall have been directors of Oyston’s companies.

Yesterday’s Daily Star reported that the former It’s A Knockout presenter is suspected of yet more offences in both the UK and Spain. It is unlikely that these will now be pursued but the outcome of today’s hearing will mark an important landmark in the fallout from the Jimmy Savile scandal. Mr Hall deserves the harshest punishment possible.
