Yesterday’s 11/1 win for one of The Steeple Times’ selections, Rachael Blackmore on Minella Times in the Grand National, marks a truly significant moment for the most famous horse race in the world.
Securing a clear victory in the 173rd running of the race, Blackmore became the first female jockey ever to win the £750,000 race and in doing so this 31-year-old from Tipperary has now been catapulted into the premier league of the sport’s history.
Speaking afterwards, modest to her core Blackmore remarked:

Next, with fellow jockey Paul Townend injured and only 10 wins ahead of her, it is quite feasible that Rachael Blackmore will win the Irish Jockey’s championship.
