Having begun his career at Sotheby’s, John Bly joined his family at their firm of antiques dealers in Tring, Hertfordshire. An author and presenter of the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow since 1978, Bly is a father of two and also well known as an after dinner speaker. His other loves number jazz drumming and cooking and in 2010, he told Hertfordshire Life: “If you have got £20,000 then buy a wonderful antique, but if your budget is small then IKEA is fantastic”.
