Today, as a result of an investigation by the newspaper (in partnership with the BBC’s Panorama) into lobbying, a Conservative MP named Patrick Mercer has resigned and referred himself to Parliament’s standards commissioner.
Having myself been impressed by the same newspaper’s investigation into the activities of a woman named Lady Meyer several years ago, I can testify that Daily Telegraph journalists are diligent, professional and impressive. This indeed is just the kind of investigative journalism this country needs.

Mercer should not be a MP any longer , it sounds like he resigned from his conservative seat but can remain a MP nevertheless?
