New e-book on Kennedy’s assassination
On Tuesday night, I attended an event at the longest established antiquarian booksellers in the world, Sotheran’s of Sackville Street, to mark the launch of two books by Craig Cabell. Linking two semicentennial events, the first episode of Doctor Who and the assassination of President Kennedy, the author regaled an audience with a fascinating and thought provoking speech.
Cabell, whose previous works have included The Kray Brothers: The Image Shattered and Ian Rankin and Inspector Rebus, took to the floor to place “Oswald in his rightful context” by “exposing the dark, salubrious, world of professional snipers” whom he believed were behind the assassination. Specifically, he argued that Kennedy was shot from the front and not from the Texas School Book Depository.

Lee Harvey Oswald, Cabell recounted, was spotted drinking Coca Cola on the second floor of the building at around the time of the killing and with the lifts to the sixth floor broken, the author suggested it was nigh on impossible for him to have reached the sniper position in time.
Continuing, Cabbell described Oswald as a “patsy” who almost certainly had set up the sniper’s nest up but one who “did not kill anyone that day”. Instead, after having analysed the famous Zapruder film along with other evidence, Cabell shared his belief that a sniper gauntlet were the true killers and provided what he argued to be “a concrete explanation as to why the true gunmen were never found”.
In 2047, undoubtedly, we will no doubt get such an analysis of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. Sadly, in both that instance and the case of JFK’s slaying, the truth will always remain lost somewhere in the haze.

I’m with Tim on this one. Total bollocks.
His theory makes a lot of sense actually. Lee Oswald was shot because in court he’d have shown himself to have been entirely innocent. He was as much a victim as JFK.
