Sunday night’s viewing was a mixed bag
Last night Homeland went head to head with Downton Abbey. The winner, in our view, was clearly Homeland but though both had their moments, both had clear weaknesses.

Whilst Homeland is only into its third series, Downton is now into its fourth. Both shows have had the time to mature yet whilst the relationships between the English aristocracy and their servants were again ludicrously unrealistic, it was Dame Kiri Te Kanawa who shone as Dame Nellie Melba in Downton whilst Claire Danes excelled as the unhinged CIA agent Carrie Mathison on Channel 4.

The absence of Damian Lewis as Nicholas Brody was a clear disappointment to Homeland viewers but with the prospect of his return in the next episodes, there is much to look forward to. We most definitely will be watching.
