Alleged shoplifter and ‘modern day Dorian Gray’ Richard Madeley attempts to convince ‘Mirror’ readers that his relationship with alleged old soak ‘mummy’ Judy Finnigan is “normal”
In a feature titled “Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan’s heartbreaks – affair, baby loss and health battles” by ‘showbiz features writer’ Frances Kindon, no mention was made of Madeley’s possible penchant for helping himself in supermarkets, but instead the focus was on how the couple first met.
Of an epic encounter that led to “the most solid union in showbiz,” Kindon gloriously remarked: “Their paths first crossed in a newsroom back in 1982 when Judy, 72, was asked to mentor a younger Richard, 64, and greeted him with the words, ‘Hello… I’m your Mummy’” before then adding that their own daughter finds “the amount of time they spend together is not normal.”
Elsewhere in the puff piece, Kindon reveled in ‘Dick and Dude’s’ “natural chemistry” and celebrated their “whole lot of red-hot chemistry” and positions as “the nation’s favourites.” She referenced “hurtful rumours” about them and then even allowed “sexual oversharer” Madeley to give a riposte. In it, he remarked:
“We’d gone away for a week to Cornwall with our children, and the mobile went in the car.”
“It was our bosses at Granada saying a terrible rumour was being put around that you’re in a self-help institution for men who batter their wives because you’ve beaten Judy, that Judy’s in a drying-out clinic and that the children are in care. We were in the f**king car.”

With just 164 followers on Twitter, “socialist and vocal republican” PR man Basham – best known for his involvement in the British Airways ‘Dirty Tricks’ scandal – last week left a comment on our aforementioned article containing three links from a domain that curiously “has just been registered.”
Plainly, as he seeks to step up his efforts to get croaked paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s bestie back into her socialite circle, Basham is going into overdrive. Of the links, one went to a piece by the Catholic Herald columnist Brendan O’Neill – a wack job best known for telling high profile sex abuse victims to effectively “shut up” and urging the public to riot in support of speeding up Brexit – arguing that Maxwell should be presumed “innocent until the court demonstrates otherwise.”
Going further, openly extremely anti-woke O’Neill justified his claim by stating: “[Ghislaine Maxwell] is in many ways the ideal hate figure in these woke, unforgiving times. She’s wealthy. She’s the daughter of a disgraced tycoon (Robert Maxwell). She rubbed shoulders with allegedly iffy men and women who have more money than morals. In some people’s minds, she has come to symbolise the rot the heart of the moneyed elites, the cancer of white privilege and rich-people arrogance.”
Basham’s other links included one to The Hill that ludicrously attempted to argue that the Department of Justice have run an “inflammatory” press campaign against Maxwell and another that featured a report about Fox News’ also anti-woke correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera calling out her being denied bail in July as “copping out to the mob” and a “political decision.”
According to the article, Rivera – whom previously called Donald Trump “brave” for sending “good wishes” to Maxwell – also added: “They are doing this to put pressure on her” before bleating: “They are punishing her before conviction… She is not Jeffrey Epstein. I think this a terrible, punitive decision.”
Elsewhere, last week, Air Mail featured news of Maxwell’s attorney yet again moaning about her being “excessively and invasively searched” whilst the New York Post described her legal team “invoking the murder of New Jersey judge Esther Salas’s son” as an “odd reference” as part of their attempt to get the most definite flight risk out on bail.
In a filing, the lawyers bizarrely hinted at a security risk and stupendously stated: “Many of the people who want to support Ms. Maxwell’s renewed bail application are older and do not have the financial means to hire a personal security detail to protect themselves.”

Speaking to The Steeple Times exclusively to mark the first anniversary of the Duke of York’s juggernaut wreck of an interview with Emily Maitlis for the BBC, Kirby Sommers, an activist, feminist, author and sex slave survivor, remarked:
“What has been fascinating one year after the disastrous interview Prince Andrew gave to the BBC is that Ghislaine Maxwell did not make a public statement of any sort in his defence. Although November 2020 is only the anniversary of the interview, the palace’s ‘Epstein Affair’ has been gathering momentum for almost a decade. It has been so spectacularly mishandled that it could go any which way at this point, which makes it a far absorbing drama than Meghan and Harry’s even if the backdrop couldn’t be more tawdry.”
“Is he the typical – and now much maligned – middle-aged white male relying on privilege as Epstein’s victims say, or a victim of the victims as he has solidly maintained throughout? Andrew has consistently categorically denied all allegations against him. Though soon a grandfather, the prince is unlikely voluntarily to hang up his crown any time soon.”
Likely to lose all his titles by the end of the year, Prince Andrew’s ‘annus horribilis’ is complete. The Queen is supposedly not talking to him and now the cryptically coded message we published in January from The Times (which again follows below and which could indeed have been from Ghislaine Maxwell perhaps) now likely will prove true. No more “good wishes” need follow after this anniversary.

Yesterday, video footage of a protest outside Buckingham Palace against paedophiles appeared on YouTube. It was captioned: “Anti-Prince Andrew demonstration” variously, but strangely the mainstream media have decided not to even cover the event.
Previously targeted at the palace in February with an American school bus carrying an advert featuring his face and the words: “If you see this man please ask him to call the FBI to answer their questions” by the lawyer Gloria Allred, whom represents several of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, the Duke of York was unlikely present during either of the debacles.

Now, the heat is being turned up for the deservedly reduced royal and if he is indeed as innocent as he claims of the allegations made against him by Virginia Giuffre, he should finally do the decent thing: Answer the questions of the American authorities about his involvement in this sorry saga.

Those of us that knew the late Claus von Bülow (1926 – 1929) and those that watched Reversal of Fortune – the superb film portrayal of his two trials in connection to his alleged attempted murder of his heiress wife Sunny in 1980 (she eventually died after having been in a coma for over 27 years in 2008) – will of course recall his association with the rookie lawyer Alan Dershowitz.
In that film, Dershowitz is portrayed as a man who fights for the underdog; he’s a hero (in spite of whom he is defending), in fact. Now, years after morphing into a fully-fledged member of the establishment, it seems, this civil libertarian has sadly moved to the ‘dark side.’
In an article for the Spectator USA, published on Thursday, titled: “The Ghislaine I Know,” Dershowitz enthusiastically droned on about how he and his wife were “introduced to Ghislaine Maxwell by Sir Evelyn and Lady Lynne de Rothschild.” He continued: “We subsequently met her… generally in the presence of prominent people such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nobel Prize-winning scientists, presidents of universities, and prominent academic and business people” (thus hinting that this made the paedophile procurer actually ‘respectable’).
Dershowitz – himself a man accused, but not convicted, of offences linked to Epstein and Maxwell – demanded ‘Bouncing Bob’s’ daughter be “like every other arrested person, she must be presumed innocent” (which is fair enough), but then proceeded to trash victims the monster Epstein had already been convicted of abusing.
Continuing with his “everyone should keep an open mind about Maxwell” angle, the lawyer illustrated himself to be utterly out of touch. As the financier Euan Rellie, described as “a British investment banker who knew Maxwell in both London and New York” in a Vanity Fair article about Thursday’s arrest, tweeted Friday: “This guy @AlanDersh is protesting way too much.”

A lot of powerful people will be more than a little worried. I hope [Maxwell won’t] end up like Epstein. I’m a little worried about that. I think she’s in danger. Alan Dershowitz was played by Ron Silver in the 1990 American drama film ‘Reversal of Fortune’ with Jeremy Irons as Claus von Bülow and Glenn Close as Sunny von Bülow. The 111-minute film grossed £12.3 million at the box office and was lauded for its “exceptional performances” and “cunning script.”

She’s rarely without an opinion the size of a two-tonne truck and yesterday this Birmingham born, Oxford educated megaphone “sparked [a] backlash” after pointing out that a 28-year old man, Andrew Banks of Stansted, “urinated BESIDE the plaque [dedicated to the memory of PC Keith Palmer]. He did not urinate ON it.” She arrogantly then concluded: “This is basic stuff.”
After rightly being called out as an ignoramus, ‘Julia Heartless-Brouhaha’ or ‘Julia Hideous-Sewer’ (as she is occasionally nicknamed) tried to justify her careless chatter. She added: “FFS, people, stop pretending to be stupid. I’m not DEFENDING this asshole for urinating beside the memorial. I’m telling the Met Police that they need to be accurate. Pissing BESIDE the plaque is awful. Pissing ON it would be even worse. Now get over your fake pearl clutching.”
This, however, was unsurprisingly not accepted and whilst some correctly pointed out the urine would have likely “splashed” sideways, others got to the crux of the matter. One Twitter user, ‘Angry (EU) Mum,’ countered: “Why do you as a woman think it is ok for a bloke to expose himself by getting his dick out and urinating in a public place?”
Media commentator and former police commander Chris Greany, though, gave the best suggestion. He concluded: “Julia, take the day off today.” He was right and Hartley-Brewer would do well to henceforth learn a new craft: That of the art of silence.
Meanwhile, Banks, who is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today, was subsequently quite rightly charged with outraging public decency; may this right-wing scumbag have the book chucked at him.
[Update: 12.05pm GMT, 15th June: Andrew Banks was jailed for 14 days after pleading guilty to outraging public decency. Ironically, prosecutor Michael Mallon told the court: “The Tottenham fan was in central London to ‘protect statues,’ but admitted he did not know which ones,” reported ‘Metro.’]

As Andrew Marr pointed out in his History of Modern Britain – screened on BBC Four last night – in his example, highlighting the case of the senseless murder of the innocent toddler Jamie Bulger by two truly evil teenagers during John Major’s premiership – Madeleine McCann’s disappearance occurred just a month before Blair left office and Gordon Brown took over. News of it dominated the media during the transition period.
Defining the Brown years – during which Peter Mandelson was a government minister from October 2008 until May 2010 – in terms of the vast acres of pages devoted to the case and garnering disproportionate attention from government thus, as Murray pointed out: “British diplomatic staff were under direct instruction to support the McCanns far beyond the usual.”
Mandelson had his finger on the pulse with the McCann story then and today the proof of its usefulness is still in the pudding by way of the fact that it wiped other ‘bad news’ stories off the front pages in the last week. Equally, as has been the case with the renewal of interest in Prince Andrew’s “has he or hasn’t he” cooperated with the investigations into Jeffrey Epstein in the last 24 hours, here are matters that show that the Mandelson style of media management haven’t moved on.
One rather conveniently unavailable person who links the ‘players’ in these matters is still apparently missing in action. Again, this morning, we again join those asking: “Why doesn’t Ghislaine Maxwell finally come forward?”

In a tweet, the ‘Official Campaign’ for Jeremy Bamber shared an image of his late sister, Sheila Caffell, a diagnosed schizophrenia sufferer, alongside a letter from the Criminal Cases Review Commission to Glaisyers Solicitors LLP (whom then represented the convicted serial killer).
That correspondence, dated 20th March 2000, contained a statement that tellingly reads: “It is desirable that this information does not become generally known” and given its contents, we can now see why.
