Whilst nobody was surprised when Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Iran, Kenya, Kuwait, Liberia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Senegal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand amongst others banned The Satanic Verses in 1988 for supposed blasphemy against Islam, news that Phillip Schofield’s memoirs have been outlawed from sale in Wales might actually surprise.
Though no doubt an affront to literature in terms of the quality and relevance of its content, an image of Schofield’s recently released Life’s What You Make It in a taped off section of a Tesco store in Cardiff appeared yesterday in The Sun. Appropriately, however, given the shocking reviews the tome has deservedly received, a notice was pinned to the shelving stating: “We are unable to sell non-essential items at this time.”
We’re left wondering: Did ‘Schofe’ hit his “only fit for the bin” boxed wine as a result? If so, we can only pity those dealing with his hangover this morning.

To be fair, Matthew, you’re going for the chaff, not the wheat, of your argument. The definition of “inessential” items not to be sold is mind blowing. Children’s jumpers as winter approaches? Let’s hope they haven’t grown in the last year and existing clothes will still fit And phone chargers? Cell phones are SUCH a luxury.
I’ll concede, though, banning his book is a small bonus in the whole debacle.
I hope this pathetic specimen is crying into his tea cup. He can afford to cry. Paid so much to talk nonsense and that incident with David Cameron – it made my blood boil. Shame on Schofield.
I think Wales is trying to be individual in lockdown. But no reason why supermarkets can sell books and local bookshops are shut down because that does not help small businesses. It is a case of equity.
As for me, If I drive from Symonds Yat in Herefordshire to the Forest of Dean, Gloucesteshire via Monmouth I can get stopped by the law for leaving Wales (and vice versa), or if I go to Chepstow to go via Severn BrIdge to London etc so it can happen too, Yup, the law is busy.
Phillip came out and he cried on the television and he might get more upset if he reads this. He needs us all to support him and his ex friend Matt McGreevy (McGreedy/McGrabby) needs to pipe down too.
This guy is a legend in his own mind, why does he think he is so important that people would want to buy a book of his memoirs? He was a television presenter, big deal, half the time he spoke a load of crap anyway. Also, why on earth would he think he could put his name to cask wine ffs, does he think he’s now a wine connoisser as well? It seems he just loves the limelight and, and would sell his soul for a bit of publicity and cash, I wish he would just fade away, I’m sick and tired of seeing his name pop up all the time.
