Frankie Dettori’s win at Lingfield on Wednesday is to be celebrated and marks a most welcome return for Britain’s favourite jockey.

Having won on Eco Warrior and Gone With The Wind, The Guardian’s Chris Cook stated that the Italian had had his “perfect start” whilst London24’s horse racing correspondent Simon Jackson described it as a “dream comeback”.

Dettori, who had commented “I was a bit nervous” prior to the races, has a great year ahead of him. He is now riding for Sheik Joaan Al Thani and has put what was his personal “annus horribilis” behind him. All at The Steeple Times raise a glass to that.
