A medical student at the Ohio State University, 27-year old Brian Shaffer went into the Ugly Tuna Saloona bar in Columbus on the evening of 31st March 2006 and has never been seen again. His father, Randy, orchestrated a mammoth campaign to raise awareness of the case but was killed when a tree hit him during a heavy windstorm in 2008. Armchair detectives continue to espouse theories about this case but Shaffer sadly will likely always be “the man who vanished into thin air”.
