Purporting to be on a “fact finding mission”, Mr Griffin crossed the border from Lebanon and tweeted that he found “life in the capital normal”. Of visiting the site of a rebel suicide bomb in the torn country, he added:

“Smelt like abattoir. Vile. Hague wants your taxes to arm these terrorists!”

Separately, back in London, a Bentley GTC has appeared on the streets of Knightsbridge and South Kensington with the number plate “A5AAD”. Many have speculated as to its ownership and undoubtedly it belongs to someone entirely unconnected. Perhaps, though, Bashar Assad just fled – unable to cope with a visit from the swivel eyed loon that is Nick Griffin. Stranger things have happened.
