A random sample of tweets during the BBC’s Crimewatch special on Madeleine McCann showed little support for the couple and little belief in the so-called “progress” Operation Grange has made in investigating the child’s disappearance in 2007.

Whilst this gathering is far from scientific, the view of the public is clear. Like all decent people throughout the world, we hope that Madeleine McCann is found. We also, however, continue to question why so many resources are allocated to this case whilst so many other innocent missing children and adults remain forgotten.
