Lord Steel has proven himself a disgrace; he should be expelled from public life
Lord Steel should be ashamed of himself. He should also be expelled from the House of Lords.
That this former Liberal leader now admits to having known about the crimes of the “perverted brute” paedophile Sir Cyril Smith MP is an outrage and that he did nothing is frankly disgusting. If he had acted, innocent people could have spared the terrible abuse they suffered and a criminal could have been brought to justice.

One wonders what kind of criteria and due diligence is applied when making me people knights and peers! It seems that most of those titles are just a pay off either for money or favours. Anyone falling in disgrace and shame should be expelled .

To become a Member of The House of Lords, one needs to generally have integrity, wisdom and courage. These are the attributes that both elected and non-elected leaders should have. I only wish Lord Steel happened to have steel in his balls rather than being a snivelling coward who turned a blind eye to the suffering of children. Bobby Kennedy sums it up best in his famed quote: “evil only triumphs when good men fail to act”
