Today’s arrests in Operation Yewtree

Today, two men were arrested as part of Operation Yewtree. Both were in their 50s and therefore come from an era where public figures were able to get away with all manner of things.

A certain right-wing comedian of the same age of one of them, 59-year old Jim Davidson, was named later in the day by the Fleet Street Fox on Facebook and Guido Fawkes on his Order-Order.com blog as one of the people to have been arrested. This has yet to be confirmed but given Mr Davidson’s views on the Jimmy Savile scandal, published in October 2012 on his blog.jimdavidson.org.uk website, we thought it only fair to share them with our readers:

We suspect the latest arrest in Operation Yewtree to be the biggest yet The key to the latest arrest in Operation Yewtree is the age of the 72-year old man named.

“The Savile witch hunt is going a bit silly now. We all are starting to speculate and accuse … even in jest. So no, I don’t know who’s next. Well, if I was in the pub with the lads it would be a different story. Everyone has had the nod. Everyone is an expert. Just pick someone you don’t like and say it’s them.”

“I read a thing today where someone saw Jimmy Savile pinch some girl’s bum. Apparently, that’s ­sexual assault. Where will all this end? As odd as he was, Savile can’t defend himself. The bloke’s dead for God’s sake. Let’s move on.”

Mr Davidson is allegedly going into this year’s Celebrity Big Brother. It begins tomorrow but if what the Fleet Street Fox and Guido Fawkes suggest about this pugnacious character is true, then we’ll all be saved from his awful attempts at humour. We are watching with interest.
