Jaguar E-Type sells for world record price
On Thursday in Scottsdale, Arizona, auctioneers Bonhams achieved a world record when they sold a 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Competition for £6 million ($7.37 million, €6.94 million or درهم27.27 million).
An Australian GT Championship winner and described as “one of the most original factory lightweights in existence”, the “GTO Killer” sold was first owned by an ex-trucker and “dedicated proponent of Jaguars” named Bob Jane.

Of the overall auction results, James Knight, Bonhams group motoring director, remarked:
“We were applauded by the market for assembling one of the finest selection of cars ever seen at Scottsdale. To have achieved a near sell-out of our highlight cars, backed up with an 82% sell-through-rate is immensely satisfying”.
Of the 53-year old car itself, the firm added:
“This is one of the absolute best and most original of the 12 Lightweight E-Types made… It is one of the most celebrated Jaguars ever built”.
