The Tout’s tips for The Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury
This is the first really big race of the new jumping season and also one of the most glamorous as it attracts both the keen racing going classes and stars from the worlds of music and film. The Guineas 2016
The Tout’s tips for the 1000 and 2000 Guineas
As some readers will be aware, we have long followed the trainer Philip Hobbs and this season he is on fire. For this reason we make Fingal Bay, available at 8/1, our main selection. Offering superb each way value also is a horse from the stable of Gary Moore. He is the most undersung trainer in both the worlds of flat and jump racing and his entry Le Reve – ridden by his son, Joshua – is available at 33/1.
Both horses have had a run this season and this will make a huge difference over a very soft 3¼ miles around Newbury. Be sure to enjoy the spectacle of the water jump that is directly in front of the grandstand and think of The Tout as I’ll be savouring this contest with a Partagas Serie D No.4 and a glass of XO.
