Victoria Wood CBE (1953 – 2016)

Victoria Wood CBE (1953 – 2016)Comedian Victoria Wood’s final tweet was: “Life’s not fair, is it? Some of us drink champagne in the fast lane, and some of us eat our sandwiches by the loose chippings on the A597”. A Lancashire lass and mother of two, national treasure Wood attended Quaker meetings and was a committed vegetarian. She once remarked: “I’m all for killing animals and turning them into handbags. I just don’t want to have to eat them”.

  1. Very much saddened by this terrible news. Another of the great comedians has departed. All we’re left with is Michael McIntyre and Ricky Gervais. God help us.

  2. Soooo sad, taken before her time. Hope her family read some of the tweets & Facebook comments and take comfort in realizing how loved she was as a comedian, bringer of laughter, and pompous-bubble-pricker. Let’s remember Acorn Antiques, and listen to her “Let’s Do It – the Ballad of Barry and Freda” on YouTube. A one-off. Genius.
