A Lancashire lass and mother of two, national treasure Wood attended Quaker meetings and was a committed vegetarian. She once remarked: “I’m all for killing animals and turning them into handbags. I just don’t want to have to eat them”.

Very much saddened by this terrible news. Another of the great comedians has departed. All we’re left with is Michael McIntyre and Ricky Gervais. God help us.
Very sad to hear of her death. She made me laugh a lot.
Soooo sad, taken before her time. Hope her family read some of the tweets & Facebook comments and take comfort in realizing how loved she was as a comedian, bringer of laughter, and pompous-bubble-pricker.
