In an email quoted during the case, her ex-husband, Charles Saatchi, nicknamed her “Higella” and alleged his wife “poisoned [her] child with drugs and trashed her life”. In response, amongst those who leapt to Lawson’s defence on Twitter were Tom Parker Bowles, Rosa Monckton and Piers Morgan. Though the image of Saatchi throttling Lawson at Scott’s in Mayfair is undoubtedly one of the most shocking published in 2013, this cookery writer and presenter’s last biscuit may have just been baked given American viewer’s distaste for drug abuse.

I don’t care what drugs Nigella Lawson is alleged to have taken. Men who grab women by the throat are total scum.
I personally think that both Saatchi and Lawson should have dealt with these matters privately. The airing of this dirty laundry so publicly in the court room reflects very badly on both of them. You are entirely right about abusers though Anthony.
It doesn’t reflect badly on Nigella. She hasn’t said one word. She hasn’t been in court. This was all Charles. He’s the one who has talked and talked and talked. Of course he went to court yesterday and said he had zero evidence Nigella ever used any drugs. He also said he still adores her
