The wife of the biggest Ponzi schemer in history claims she had no knowledge of what her husband – whom she’s since disowned but not divorced – did as chairman of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC yet was involved in attempting to transfer assets in the days prior to his arrest. Of the 2008 scandal, in 2012, she stated: “I lost a son whom I loved dearly. I don’t talk to Bernie anymore, and I find it so hard to reconcile my feelings for the man I was married to for over 50 years”. Ruth Madoff subsequently moved to a house owned by her other son – who then died in 2014 – in Old Greenwich, Connecticut.
