Jake Shears (born Jason F. Sellards)

Jake ShearsThe co-founder of the Scissor Sisters was born in Mesa, Arizona and decided he wanted to marry Christopher Reeve when he was four. Shears, who doesn’t especially like wearing shirts, himself suggests he’s “not the easiest person in the world to be partners with” but that this singer has been with Chris Moukarbel since 2004 speaks volumes. Aside from music, he states: “I would’ve been a porn star”.

  1. Here is a song for Jake Shears by Gary Edward Allen email [email protected] Cheers!

    My Heart is Torn

It’s just ashes to ashes dust to dust
What has become of the two of us?

We used to love each other like a house on fire
A love that was filled with want and desire

Like a small boat in a storm we got lost at sea
It’s still hard to imagine that you don’t want me

Together we carved our names in the old oak tree
A showing of our love we placed foe everyone to see

A golden ring I placed lovingly upon your finger
Tell me how long will these feelings linger

It seems one day our love simply died
No one can say that I didn’t try

We climbed a mountain just to get to the other side
The mighty waves of passion we did surely ride

Together we came to know the glory of love
A choir of heavenly angels sang from above

My mind can never forget the sad day
The day you said that you were going away

Our love has became like a dying rose
All the petals fell and it began to decompose

The ending to our love was so bittersweet
On some common ground I hope we meet

My poor heart is now torn in two
Knowing I can never replace you

My sad and broken heart is now in pain
Now that it is only ashes that remain

  2. My Heart’s Best

Allow the waves to wash me clean
Let my many sins remain unseen

Let the mighty waves wash away
All of the fears that I have today

May the sea breeze tousle my hair?
Let me live my life without a care

My life has been a constant uphill climb
Now I want to lay claim to all that is mine

Why is it that the bitterness seems to last
Time to lay to rest the ghosts of the past

Eternal time just keeps on slipping by
But I know now that I have to try

Where have all of those golden days gone?
One day I woke up to find myself all alone

All alone without a penny to my name
    I guess that I’m a loser in life’s game

I have been lost on a one way street
I succumbed to my own self-defeat

    Lost within the oncoming waves
But it was myself I managed to save

I wish upon one glorious sunny day
That all is going to go my way

When I’m gone and my ashes are laid to rest
Know that I always tried my heart’s best

Spread some of my ashes on the heavenly mountainside
Sprinkle the remains in the blue ocean’s shifting tide

    By Gary Edward Allen 2017

  3. One Final Kiss

I love you, what more can I say
I’ll never be one to stand in your way

A million stars paint the night sky
I wish you didn’t have to say goodbye

We shared a love that burned like a flame
I see no reason to lay blame

We walked hand in hand into the sunset
We made memories that I will never forget

We grew together and somehow grew apart
Once we shared a connection of the heart

These years how quickly they have passed
Always hoped our relationship was built to last

You say your freedom is what you truly desire
Your words are the water on the fire

I’ll surely miss you when you’re gone
I am no good at living alone

So many things I’m going to miss so much
Including the magic of your touch

Turn away I have already started to cry
Swore I I’d love you till the day I die

Your bags are packed with no regrets
It is clear you can’t forgive and forget

Faded rose petals lay on the floor
You’ve got your hand upon the door

If you must go spread your wings and fly
One final kiss and then we’ll say goodbye

    Gary Edward Allen 2016
