Best known for her role in The X-Files, Gillian Anderson married her first husband on the 17th hole of a golf course in Hawaii. A mother of three who has admitted to lesbian relationships in her youth, Anderson was born in Chicago, briefly lived in London as a child and then grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Having starred in both The Last King of Scotland and Hannibal and winning both Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy awards, Gillian Anderson told The Telegraph in March 2015 that she “[doesn’t] have a tendency to share” but is “leaning towards the idea that it’s time for somebody to be brave enough to ask [her] out”.
