Los Angeles born Alison Roman once went out with a man who spent 14 hours slaving over a stove to cook for her. “It was a one date situation,” she later told the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen. Brooklyn based and the author of Dining In and Nothing Fancy, Roman’s approach to cooking is she declares “totally relaxed” and about “giving food your people want.” With 18,000 followers on Twitter and 295,000 on Instagram, this sassy lover of “high contrasts and extremes” in cooking has tremendous enthusiasm and also makes the perfect one pot chicken with dates and caramelised lemon. Of it the BBC remark: “This makes a great alternative Sunday lunch when you fancy a roast but want something a bit different.” Delectable and delicious.
