The daughter of the contentious author Count Nikolai Tolstoy, divorcée Alexandra Tolstoy is a woman who ridiculously claims to struggle to live on £10,000 per week. An equine adventurer and socialite, Tolstoy has three children with her partner Sergey Pugachyov – once known as “Putin’s banker” but now wanted for the alleged theft of £655 million from Russia’s Mezhprombank – and counts a live-in Bulgarian doctor and two drivers amongst her extensive roster of staff. In July 2014, she remarked: “We’re just surviving”. Such is life.
