Sabine Röemer: “What’s on your mantelpiece?”

20 questions with goldsmith, designer and sculptress Sabine Röemer

The Steeple Times shares “wit and wisdom”. What’s your guiding force?

“Follow your heart. It is always right”.

Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them.

I only have jewellery pieces to swap.

I would leave the banking crisis to people that understand banking.

What phrase or word do you most loathe?

I actually think a lot of words are overused. The ones I loathe I don’t even want to write down.

In the UK, some people consider charity to “begin at home”. What’s your view and what causes do you personally support?

I support charities wherever I can including the Elephant Family and Prince Harry and Prince William’s charities. However, after being caught up myself in a natural disaster in 2010 and fearing for my life I decided to start a foundation, From You With Love, myself. We sell bracelets to support children through education in the Himalayas (Ladakh area).

The judge in Law Abiding Citizen states: “I can pretty much do whatever I want” before being blown up whilst answering her mobile phone. What’s your view on the appropriate use of such devices?

These devices changed my life, but I think you should only use their advantages and not let them rule your life.

Some awards, a monkey sculpture I made for my husband’s birthday, a mini elephant I designed for the Elephant Parade, an ostrich egg from a trip to Botswana and a family picture.
