This Canadian actor and musician’s life was short but he packed plenty into it. A star of Fox’s Glee, Monteith appeared in 17 different films and attended 16 different schools. Tragically this substance addict was found dead in The Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver in July 2013. A talent lost.

Where will the world be without Whicker’s World? The answer: “A hell of a lot poorer”. Born in Egypt, this “broadcasting genius” shot footage of the body of Benito Mussolini during the Second World War before beginning a career interviewing the likes of John Paul Getty, the Sultan of Brunei, ‘Papa Doc’ Duvalier and Peter Sellers. A jokey rap, delivered in his style and calld the Wikka Wrap, made the top 20 in 1981 and of an encounter with a television executive at an awards dinner once commented: “She was livid, and said, ‘You’re a fucking icon’ – which struck me as an excellent title for my next book”. -

This singer-songwriter turned musical theatre composer began his career in the rock band Pop. His West End début with From Here To Eternity alongside Sir Tim Rice is already attracting much acclaim. -
Anne Dunhill
This Roman Catholic novelist and Italian translator’s works have included A Darker Shade of Love, Web of Passion and Anita: A Memoir. A former debutante and model, Dunhill also writes about love, life and lunches on the site Angela Darling’s Blog and is a granddaughter of the luxury goods titan Alfred Dunhill. -

This English folk-rock singer-songwriter hails from Brighton and topped the charts in 16 countries in 2013 with Let Her Go. Passenger, whose own style is described as “evoking the style and hardworking creativity of the troubadours of old”, cannot stand Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On. -
John Armstrong
This poet and artist was born in Consett, County Durham and began writing aged just 13 during his time studying at a monastery in Shropshire. Famed for his amazing head of a hair and a regular at the Chelsea Arts Club, amongst Armstrong’s most poignant verses is one from his poem Who Am I in which he states: “I am the thin red line that will not yield, I am that far off corner of a foreign field, I am an Englishman!” -
Emmanuelle Seigner
The wife of Roman Polanski committed a serious fashion faux pas at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival when her Alexandre Vauthier low-cut silk jersey “gown” left nothing to the imagination. An actress, model and singer, Seigner claims Frenchwomen are jealous of her “success, beauty and money”. She’s certainly nothing other than modest. -
Ian Towning
This creepy, permatanned ‘queen’ of the antiques trade claims to have blue blood on his mother’s side. Aside from appearing on the ‘mahogany skinned’ David Dickinson’s Real Deal television programme, Ian Towning once attempted to launch a pen for left-handed writers. He is often spotted promenading the Kings Road – from where he operates a somewhat downbeat market stall-esque dealership – in ‘full regalia’ and at a certain sun tanning parlour next to McDonalds.

Named after the city of Winona, Minnesota, this actress is as famous for stealing $5,500 of designer clothes and accessories from the Saks Fifth Avenue department store in Beverly Hills in 2001 as she is for her onscreen roles and relationships with Johnny Depp and Matt Damon. She once stated: “We’re sickeningly well-paid people who have charmed lives. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have problems” whilst of growing older, she added: “I do look forward to the wrinkles actually”. -

This Boston based DJ is an impressive talent and a true rising star on the music scene. A co-founder of the Heart of House music label with Lucas Alexander, Whiting has “Rude Boy” tattooed on his chest and previously worked for the Michelin starred chef Philippe Rispoli.
