Tony Blair should not tie himself to the coattails of Donald Trump; it’ll only make him even more unpopular

 

Tony Blair – a man worth an estimated £60 million – recently nearly redeemed himself by speaking sense about Brexit but if reports in today’s Mail on Sunday are to be believed, he’s now reverted to his self-serving ways of old.

 

According to the newspaper’s political editor, Simon Walters, Blair has met Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, three times since September and is attempting “to become a Middle East peace envoy” in the capacity of acting as an “advisor” to the 45^th President of the United States of America. A “well placed source” remarked: “Blair has been pitching hard for this job and Trump’s people are taking him very seriously”.

 

Blair, whose previous claims of having no intention of making a political comeback now look to be utterly false, cannot be blamed for not wanting to sit on the sidelines. Life in retirement most probably doesn’t suit him, but, aside from illustrating utterly no loyalty to his old cronies the Clintons, in trying to get in with Trump he only shows himself as someone willing to sacrifice his principles in order to sit with a clan of brash billionaires and bullies.

 

Mr Blair would do well to remember what previously took his popularity south were such things as the behaviour of his grasping, money obsessed wife and his toadying loyalty to President George W. Bush. He should realise that Trump can only bring him worse ratings and he should step away from the most unstable man ever to occupy the White House.

 

As ‘The Tout’ announces he is “withdrawing his support” for ‘The Steeple Times’ due to our stance on “weird causes including Gina Miller”, we urge readers to back Campaign 2018

 

An occasional contributor to these pages, ‘The Tout’, wrote to our editor late Thursday to announce he would be “withdrawing his support from the publication”.

 

In a short missive, the horseracing correspondent, who recently became a representative of the former UKIP leader and ‘BBF’ of Donald Trump, Nigel Farage, remarked:

 

“I’m afraid that post the article you published about Nigel I have to withdraw my support from the publication. I hope you understand as I have given the matter due consideration over the past couple of weeks and that combined with your support for all sorts of weird causes including Gina Miller means that it has become an untenable relationship. Please also remove me from the email list”.

 

In spite of our having repeatedly offered UKIP supporters and others a right to reply to our articles and their having failed to take up opportunities to publish their thoughts, we thank ‘The Tout’ for his past contributions and wish him and his associates the best for the future. We do, however, again reiterate our previous sentiments and again challenge those with views contrary to our own to send in contributions.

 

Separately, we today urge readers to back Gina Miller’s Campaign 2018. Supported already by amongst others restaurateur Jeremy King and former The Wall Street Journal editor Baroness Wheatcroft, the petition – which will take you just a moment to sign – calls for “a practical approach to the Brexit process, which puts our country and its people first”.

 

Matthew Steeples highlights the incompetence of the CPS after witnessing a trial for an assault on his person fail due to their ineptitude and inability to file the correct paperwork

 

On 23^rd April 2016, I was the victim of an unprovoked attack outside Coya, an upscale Mayfair dining spot. Yesterday, nearly a year later, an assault case against perpetrator of this offence was dismissed due to the Crown Prosecution Service having twice failed to serve the case schedule on the defendant.

 

That the plainly unhinged individual who targeted me, a man capable of repeatedly and forcefully smashing me in the back with a wooden handle of an umbrella but a man incapable to even turn up to court due to his “physical weakness”, was not brought to justice was frustrating enough but that this occurred due to incompetence on the part of those tasked with administering the case is what grates.

 

In October 2016, at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court, at the first hearing in regard to the assault, a member of the bench pointed out that simple, yet essential paperwork had not been correctly served on the defendant by the CPS. They ordered this be corrected before a second hearing on 24^th February 2017 at the City of London Magistrates’ Court.

 

Yesterday, in spite of a further four months having passed, I was informed that the necessary paperwork had still not been served. On that basis, the prosecutor informed me, the case against my attacker was to be dismissed. The defendant, thus, walked scot-free and now is in a position to do something similar or worse to another member of the public. It will only be once that occurs, and inevitably it will given this individual’s previous form, that action might be taken. On that basis here, I highlight the true villains hindering justice: The hapless and hopeless CPS.

 

As Milo Yiannopoulos’ book deal is cancelled after he defends paedophilia, this rabid alt-right nut is also banished by The American Conservative Union and faces demands to be sacked by fellow employees at ‘Breitbart’

 

There was only delight at news that the darling of the alt-right Milo Yiannopoulos had his £200,000 ($250,000) book deal with Simon & Schuster cancelled on Monday in the wake of him saying that relationships and sex “between younger boys and older men … can be hugely positive experiences”.

 

In a video that he has himself admitted to participating in the making of, Yiannopoulos said:

 

“[The age of consent is] not this black and white thing… We get hung up on this sort of child abuse stuff to the point where we are heavily policing consensual adults”.

 

When his interviewer answered: “It sounds like molestation to me”, Yiannopoulos, using a euphemism for male oral sex, without a thought for genuine victims of abuse, answered:

 

“It sounds like Catholic priest molestation to me. But you know what? I’m grateful for Father Michael [a man Yiannopoulos has claimed to have had sex with “when he was a younger teenager”]. I wouldn’t give nearly such good head if it wasn’t for him”.

 

 

Later in the interview, Yiannopoulos also claimed to have attended Hollywood parties with “very young boys in attendance for sex” and added:

 

“Pedophilia is not a sexual attraction to somebody 13 years old, who is sexually mature. Pedophilia is attraction to children who have not reached puberty. Pedophilia is attraction to people who don’t have functioning sex organs yet who have not gone through puberty”.

 

Yiannopoulos has been for too long been indulged by the media and it is positive to learn that The American Conservative Union has also rescinded its invitation for him to speak at their CPac conference and that Breitbart employees “are prepared to leave the company if [he] is not promptly fired”. It is time, in fact, that this vile, self-publicising madman was sent to Siberia and then and only then will Simon & Schuster and others be forgiven for their epic errors of judgment.

 

Donald Trump’s 75-minute outburst proves once and for all that he’s utterly off his rocker; may his demise please come quickly

 

Donald Trump and the press are living in two different realities. He has failed to transition from a brash campaigning candidate to a dignified President of the United States of America and already the wheels of his administration are falling off. The press – whom, in Hitler-esque fashion, he brands “false news” and “failing liars” and bypasses in favour of rants on Twitter and mass rallies – have been sidelined and mocked but thankfully now they’re beginning to fight back.

 

Yesterday, the man the darling of the alt-right Milo Yiannopoulos calls “Daddy” went totally overboard during a hastily organised press conference. Donald Trump illustrated himself for what he truly is: An unhinged lunatic and someone without any capability to understand the essential fact that he has to be rational. When, for example, the BBC’s Jon Sopel asked the POTUS a question, he was met with:

 

DT: “Where are you from?”

 

JS: “The BBC”.

 

DT: “There’s another beauty… Impartial. Just like CNN. I know who you are”.

 

Many other members of the press were dealt with in a similar fashion during the 75-minute long event and of the oddest press conference ever given by a president, this morning, Eric Ham, a political analyst, told the BBC:

 

“The knives are out in his political circle. There are 4,000 political appointments that [Trump] needs to make and he’s very far behind where Obama was at the same stage… He is very behind”.

 

“That press conference was him speaking to his supporters… They see the media as out of touch, a Washington based, elite… He has to govern for the entire country, not just those who elected him. For how long will the elected representatives stand behind this?”

 

Trump – a man driven by only a desire for self-publicity and making money – has also failed to understand that the press are there to ask questions about his policy decisions and that America and the world have the right to hold him to account.

 

For failing to grasp such a crucial detail, this mentally unbalanced individual is now headed on the path to destruction. Only time will tell how long he’ll last but for the sake of us all, may ‘The Donald’s’ demise please be quick.

 

With their libel claim appeal failed ‘missing’ Madeleine McCann’s parents need to scale back and stop blaming others

 

£12 million of public money has been allocated to the search for Gerry and Kate McCann’s missing daughter, Madeleine. This astonishing sum came into play thanks to amongst others their friend and our now Prime Minister, Theresa May, whilst scandalously other children that have disappeared get next to nothing by comparison.

 

On Tuesday, the McCanns were told they could not sue a former Portuguese detective. Gonçalo Amaral had investigated the ‘disappearance’ and then published a book about the case in which he suggested theories including that Gerry and Kate McCann had faked their daughter’s abduction. Judges decided that the “right to freedom of expression” was worthy of greater protection under Portuguese law than the “right to honour” of the McCanns and thus now, the duo face a massive legal bill.

 

Mr and Mrs McCann, a couple whose supporters have included the unpopular tycoon Sir Philip Green, should learn a lesson from this. In spite of their continued claims of innocence and determined efforts to continue their search, they must stop blaming the Portuguese police and others for their plight. It is time to scale back the investigation into the disappearance of this child and it is time for Gerry and McCann to accept that they are at the very least to blame for having left their daughter alone on 3^rd May 2007.

 

Gina Miller’s victory is a victory for democracy and decency

 

This morning the Supreme Court rejected the government’s challenge to the Brexit legal case brought by the courageous financier and philanthropist Gina Miller.

 

Outside the Supreme Court at 9.55am, Mrs Miller briefly spoke. She remarked:

 

“Only parliament can grant the rights of the British people and only parliament can take them away… This ruling means that MPs we have elected will help select”.

 

“There is no doubt that Brexit is the most divisive issue of a generation… Today’s decision has created legal certainty based on our democratic process””.

 

Miller’s victory is a victory for common sense and a defeat for angry men and women everywhere. It will mean the best deal for Britain’s exit from Europe can now be done and it should also bring with it an end to our judiciary and others being branded “enemies of the people”.

 

2017 brings a return to the “dark days of the 1930s”; be worried, be very worried

 

At Christmas, Prince Charles suggested we were in a worrying era akin to the 1930s and in recent days his predictions have been shown to be true.

 

Last week, Donald Trump’s behaviour at his press conference illustrated a man who is nothing but unhinged and mentally ill. He had tinges of Hitler and Goebels in his manner and equally, when Max Mosley appeared on the Sunday Politics yesterday, here was another man who set out his beliefs that the free press is nothing but a nuisance and subsequently argued it must be destroyed.

 

Jeremy Corbyn represents the Communist era and in demanding wages be limited last week, he illustrated himself up to be a modern day Stalin. He was even endorsed by the Holocaust denier David Irving as “a very fine man” and that about sums up where we are. Welcome to the age of unreason and welcome to a return to the darkest of days.
