The senior co-heir general of King Charles I of England and Scotland came to public attention during Scotland’s independence referendum in September 2014. The Duke of Bavaria has never married and lives in a wing of Nyphenburg Palace in Munich and Berg Castle in Upper Bavaria. A prisoner of the Nazis at Oranienburg and Dachau during the Second World War, Franz is a passionate modern art collector and speaks German, Hungarian, English and French. His 80th birthday party in 2013 was attended by 2,500 of his closest friends. -

Scotland has taken the right decision
Yesterday the Scottish came out in force and voted ‘no’ to independence. Though the ‘Better Together’ campaign’s win is by a relatively small margin and though their campaign was poorly orchestrated, it is a victory nonetheless and we should all celebrate the common sense of this decision. (more…)

Gamblers are the winners and losers of Scotland’s independence referendum
Whilst Great Britain was undoubtedly the winner when the result of Scotland’s independence referendum came in at 6am on Friday, there were other clear winners and losers. United as gamblers, the first comes in the form of a punter who bet £900,000 on a ‘no’ vote whilst the second are the EuroMillions winners Colin and Christine Weir –who foolishly handed some £4,000,000 to Alex Salmond’s disastrous campaign.
