    Matthew Steeples questions Katie Price’s newfound interest in abuse on social media and how it is dealt with

     

    When Katie Price appeared on the BBC’s Daily Politics last week to highlight her campaign to criminalise online trolling, I joined those saluting her.

     

    Having myself been part of the case that ultimately resulted in the racist bigot Viscount St Davids being sent to prison for using Facebook to offer rewards to kill others, I know first-hand the trauma online trolling can cause. It can be as offensive and scary as a heavy breathing phone call or poison pen letter and, as this publication has repeatedly stated before, given the profits made by social media operations, it is time that they accepted that it is their responsibility to regulate their users.

     

    On the programme, Miss Price remarked:

     

    “I’ve had two people arrested. They took it as far they could… But I need to do something… There is nothing in place so I am going to fight to get online abuse made a criminal offence.”

     

    “Anyone is allowed freedom of speech but people know when they’ve crossed the line… People shouldn’t get away… Just because it’s online people don’t seem to take it serious [SIC]… Of course you can say things people won’t agree with.”

     

    “I’ve got five children but they are aware they only pick on Harvey… Basically I’m counting on them [Members of Parliament] to put a good case and take it to the next level. If no one believes in this, they’ve got no heart and no soul.”

     

    In response, on the programme, the former Cabinet Minister Justine Greening told the BBC’s Jo Coburn:

     

    “I really admire Katie Price… The Internet revolution is challenging every aspect of our lives.”

     

    “It’s not a question of limiting what people can say but we should have the same laws for online as well as offline… I hope to see some sensible proposals that will tackle the kind of things that Katie Price and her family have had to suffer…. MPs have had to suffer too. It’s not acceptable.”

     

    Whilst it is easy to agree with Price’s sentiments, it now transpires she might not exactly be innocent herself. Allegations of her partaking in ‘revenge porn’ against her ex-husband Alex Reid have since surfaced and, equally, given that she’s known as a brilliant self-publicist, one is simply left questioning this glamour model’s true motivations.

    No Faith in Theresa

    Theresa May has a perfect right to go to church but why can’t she worship privately?

     

    Week after week, every Sunday, Theresa May appears outside her local church. She is photographed with her garden gnome-like husband and often even a dog.

     

    That Britain’s most incompetent leader ever chooses to believe in the Anglican faith is entirely her right, but that she rams this down the nation’s throat every Sunday is frankly grating. It is time that Mrs May realised that this country, in fact, is now a multi-faith society and it is time that she learnt to respect that.

     

    Elsewhere, talk of a coup to oust the out-of-control Mrs May is gaining momentum. This is hardly surprising given this vicar’s daughter’s true uselessness, but that such talk united contributors to the Daily Mail and The Guardian over the weekend is telling. It’s time the Conservative Party got its act into gear and it’s time to #MakeFebruaryTheEndOfMay.

    Richard Branson’s decision to re-allow the ‘Daily Mail’ on his trains proves him to be nothing but a lying self-publicist

     

    Sir Richard Branson yet again has proven himself to be nothing but a self-obsessed, self-publicising cretin. That this self-proclaimed “entrepreneur” has reneged on his company’s decision to ban the Daily Mail on his trains is indicative of not only his desire to keep himself in the news at any cost but also of the fact that this national disgrace has utterly no moral compass.

     

    Devious Branson – a man known for owning trains and spacecraft that crash and trying to destroy our NHS – now not only claims he cannot “censor” his customers from reading the nastiest paper in Britain, but also was happy to wait a few days before saying such. He is someone with an ego the size of China and the decency of Pol Pot; Sir Richard Branson should take a one way flight on his spacecraft and he should take Viscount Rothermere and Paul Dacre with him.

    Vomit on the pavement and kids pissed on the streets: A standard night in Newcastle on ‘Mad Friday’ but this year this horrific occurrence hit the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea with vengeance and with equal aplomb to whatever damage it does elsewhere.

     

    On taking a stroll through Chelsea and Knightsbridge at around 9pm, I witnessed 14-year old drunks taking half-naked selfies in Cadogan Square and someone a little older vomiting in Milner Street. In Sloane Street itself, supercars roared and raced one another and outside The Botanist, instead of the Sloane Rangers of old, were individuals resembling Wayne and Waynetta Slob looking like they were about to pass out.

     

    Welcome to modern Britain: Thanks ever so much Theresa Trump.

    Described by the BBC as “a serial fringe candidate,” Broxtowe, Nottingham born ‘Lord Biro’ attended the late paedophile Jimmy Savile’s funeral dressed as Elvis. He threw a 99p bunch of flowers into his grave as “a mark of respect.”

     

    A divorced painter and decorator, wacky David Bishop adopted his first moniker (‘Lord Byro’) in honour of Lord Byron and later replaced the ‘y’ with an ‘I’ to stand against everyone from Eric Pickles to Neil Hamilton and Robert Kilroy-Silk.

     

    An artist and poet also, Bishop primarily campaigns as the ‘Church of the Militant Elvis Party’ and has a website named GrumpyOldElvis.co.uk. His wacky policies have included:

     

    – Imprisoning Cherie Blair to prevent her talking about her sex life.

    – Placing CCTV in the bedroom of Nick Clegg.

    – Bono for Pope.

    – Going to Antarctica to shout at icebergs to “stop melting.”

    – Turning public schools into pound shops.

    – Introducing moats around houses.

    – Legalising and nationalising cannabis and calling it British Grass.

    – Free neutering for cats and Boris Johnson.

    Jack Monroe’s analysis of Katie Hopkins’s supposed “sacking” by the ‘Mail Online’ illustrates just one thing: The pair are actually virtually the same and simply ‘Sisters in Shock’

     

    Yesterday, in a column for The Guardian, the self-opinionated, self-serving know-all Jack Monroe (sometimes a woman, sometimes ‘Gender X’ and sometimes no gender at all) shared her views about her equally bombastic adversary, Katie Hopkins, leaving the Mail Online in the wake of the paper having to pay libel damages to a school teacher named Jackie Teale.

     

    In her words, Monroe, in spite of claiming “[Hopkins’s] sacking is nothing to celebrate” and admitting “I have been nasty on the Internet,” provides illustration yet again of her true character. Here, in suggesting Hopkins is “deemed too much” for even Mail Online readers and claiming she, herself, “take[s] responsibility for [her] words, and try to be better,” Monroe just illustrates that there two women are exactly the same and motivated by one thing only – the next pay cheque for their outrageous words.

    What first attracted ‘Hot Felon’ Jeremy Meeks to the daughter of the billionaire ‘Sir Shifty’ Philip Green?

     

    One could argue the criminal Jeremy Meeks hit the jackpot when his mugshot went viral and a modeling career as the ‘Hot Felon’ ensued. Not only did he achieve such, but one could argue he had a double whammy next when he struck gold and acquired the daughter of the much loathed billionaire ‘Sir Shifty’ Philip Green as his ‘girlfriend.’

     

    Meeks, however, if what he allegedly said to the Mail on Sunday’s Charlotte Griffiths is true, plainly thinks to the contrary given he supposedly commented:

     

    “The third time we met, designer Philipp Plein threw a dinner for me and Chloe [Green] was there. I didn’t put her on the guest list and I still don’t know who invited her but I am happy she was there, and after that we fell in love.”

     

    Accompanying the article on the Mail Online’s site yesterday was a video of Meeks arriving at an awards ceremony in Monaco with Miss Green and her mother, the pugnacious Lady ‘Don’t Call Me Tina’ Green. In it, whilst Meeks looks at ease in front of the cameras, both Greens career before the flashbulbs and seem nothing but sozzled and out of their depth.

     

    Of this ‘arrangement,’ one can only echo the words of Mrs Merton and ask: “Jeremy, what first attracted you to the daughter of the billionaire Philip Green?”

    Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Theresa May’s thirty-six apparently ropey sex pest MPs are undoubtedly – if all or indeed any of the allegations against them are proven true – repugnant specimens but what about the existing and conveniently forgotten victims of historic abuse by equally powerful individuals including politicians, religious figures and police officers?

     

    Just because a few well-known personalities – and admittedly long after the crimes against them, in some cases, have past the statute of limitation – have leapt up now, the media and politicians have joined a bandwagon of #MeToo. In the much older case, however, of the VIP abuse at the Elm Guest House in Richmond – a place of which only one decent MP, Zac Goldsmith, has bothered to speak out – all remains sadly silent and all allegations remain headed for being swept under the carpet.

     

    For Theresa May, it suits to allow Christian abusers with a penchant for hanging out with gangsters to remain free as it does to continue to claim that Sir Edward Heath was a decent man also. We remain in a world where Sir Cyril Smith – a vile paedo (but one like Sir Edward never tried in any court of law) is described as a paedophile without hesitation – whilst other plainly apparent living monsters walk the streets scot-free. The late Lord Janner, a nasty bastard if ever there were one, is condemned yet nobody dare talk of a living MP with a predilection for a bit of groping (male or female, it does not matter) in his office.

     

    Shame on Britain and yet again shame on Theresa May. Our useless Prime Minister has done nothing to solve this situation and frankly the hectoring vicar’s daughter didn’t exactly set a great example by accepting the hand of her “pussy grabbing” mate Donald Trump.
