    May Fernbridge finally be investigated

As police raid the offices of Lord Janner, we urge those running Operation Fernbridge to step up their game

The revelation in the Sunday People that Labour peer Lord Janner has had his House of Lords office raided by the police comes as no surprise following on from our having received many messages about this individual via Twitter for the last year. That this story has now finally been outed is progress but what needs to happen next is for the unconnected Operation Fernbridge to finally be given the resources it requires (more…)

  • Anna Soubry MP

    Anna Soubry MP

Anna SoubryIn discussion with UKIP’s Nigel Farage MEP in June 2014, “lighthearted” Soubry suggested that some people who raise concerns about immigration are “frankly racist”. Immediately disowned by Downing Street, this former television presenter turned Conservative politician is a single mother of two children and a supporter of the legalisation of cannabis. In December 2013, she described Farage as looking “like somebody [who] has put their finger up [their] bottom and [who] really rather likes it” whilst earlier that year, the Speaker told her “to sit there and be quiet or to leave the chamber” after she heckled a fellow MP. She’s not easily silenced.

    #TeamTrouble

The not guilty verdict in the case of the former assistants to Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson’s highlights nothing but the mess that was their marriage

#TeamNigella has trended on Twitter in recent weeks. Even the Prime Minister joined in. Few have leapt to the defence of the television presenter’s former husband, Charles Saatchi, however, but yesterday, still, his Evening Standard column still proudly graced the entirety of page 39. (more…)

    Monroe mucks up in Manchester

As Jack Monroe speaks at a fringe meeting at the Conservative Party conference, she continues to rant and again makes an utter fool of herself

Is there anything that “food-and-politics-gob” Jack Monroe can do gracefully? It seems not. Today, she’s speaking at the Conservative Party conference at a fringe meeting on food banks and, naturally, this foul mouthed freelance writer had to use the run-up to the occasion to let out a rant. Seeing blue

‘The Atlantic Wire’ compares the British Conservative Party with both the American Republican Party and Democratic Party

Traditionally the British Conservative Party is seen to align itself to the American Republican Party whilst the British Labour Party finds itself having more in common with the American Democratic Party. An article this week in The Atlantic Wire, however, suggests, for the Conservatives at least, this situation has somewhat changed. (more…)

    Paul Staines (AKA Guido Fawkes)

Paul StainesThis “relentlessly mocking” Irish right-wing blogger is the editor of the UK’s most read political blog and operates with a guiding force of: “Fuck with me, and I fuck with you”. Staines has variously worked for political parties, as a professional blackjack player, a futures broker, a bond dealer and a hedge fund manager and even helped a friend with the promotion of acid house raves. The politician whose company he most enjoys is Nigel Farage.

    Out blue

Chelsea’s Conservative Club closed and up for rent

Someone once said if they put up a pig with a blue rosette as the candidate in Kensington and Chelsea, it would win. This might now be in question given that the bastion of Conservatism that was the Chelsea Conservative Club is closed, up for rent and looking decidedly forlorn. (more…)

Alec Shelbrooke MP: a man who speaks sense

A Conservative MP sensibly suggests that this week’s killing in Woolwich was not terrorism

In the days since the terrible murder of Lee Rigby, 25, in Woolwich, the BNP, the EDL and other racists have leapt on the description of it as “terrorism”.
