Wally of the Week – Richard Madeley

Richard Madeley returns to the tellybox to yet again share his completely lacking in relevance thoughts on coronavirus

Alleged shoplifter of champagne and husband of a gibbering old soak Richard Madeley made an utter prat of himself spouting drivel about coronavirus earlier this month and now he’s bloody well gone and done it again.

Appearing from his somewhat shabby kitchen on Good Morning Britain today by Zoom along with a genuine expert named Professor Susan Michie, Madeley branded lockdowns a “pointless game of hide and seek.” Going further, he then added: “There’s no point in running away and hiding from the virus… It’s not squashing the virus.”

Whilst some might suggest ‘The Dorian Gray of Daytime Telly’ might actually have a point, his curious choice of words about sums up this all-round wally and on Twitter the public reacted with an understandable hint of mockery. Of his not so sage expertise, comments included: “What a plonker” and “his mum Judy will kill him when he gets home.” Another quite accurately added: “I still have this feeling of dread every time I see Richard Madeley trending. ‘Oh, no, what’s he said now?’”

Madeley is currently self-isolating for 14 days after returning from a holiday in France. Perhaps, just for him, a special case could be made to make that permanent.

Twitter users had a field day after Madeley’s latest blunder. One suggested he was showing “the first signs of the menopause.”

Amongst responses to the car crash performance was: “Will Richard Madeley go away if we lock him indoors?” Another added: “Seems Richard Madeley doesn’t agree with the lockdown! Understandable, it’s not so easy to nick supermarket bottles of wine when you shop online!”

Moron of the Moment – Julia Hartley-Brewer

In her crass comments about a right-wing thug who relieved himself by the memorial to Keith Palmer, the constable murdered in the 2017 Westminster attack, Julia Hartley-Brewer simply made a prat of her stupid self

In spite of declaring herself “irreligious,” Julia Hartley-Brewer likes to hector others. She’s rarely without an opinion the size of a two-tonne truck and yesterday this Birmingham born, Oxford educated megaphone “sparked [a] backlash” after pointing out that a 28-year old man, Andrew Banks of Stansted, “urinated BESIDE the plaque [dedicated to the memory of PC Keith Palmer]. He did not urinate ON it.” She arrogantly then concluded: “This is basic stuff.”

After rightly being called out as an ignoramus, ‘Julia Heartless-Brouhaha’ or ‘Julia Hideous-Sewer’ (as she is occasionally nicknamed) tried to justify her careless chatter. She added: “FFS, people, stop pretending to be stupid. I’m not DEFENDING this asshole for urinating beside the memorial. I’m telling the Met Police that they need to be accurate. Pissing BESIDE the plaque is awful. Pissing ON it would be even worse. Now get over your fake pearl clutching.”

This, however, was unsurprisingly not accepted and whilst some correctly pointed out the urine would have likely “splashed” sideways, others got to the crux of the matter. One Twitter user, ‘Angry (EU) Mum,’ countered: “Why do you as a woman think it is ok for a bloke to expose himself by getting his dick out and urinating in a public place?”

Media commentator and former police commander Chris Greany, though, gave the best suggestion. He concluded: “Julia, take the day off today.” He was right and Hartley-Brewer would do well to henceforth learn a new craft: That of the art of silence.

Meanwhile, Banks, who is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today, was subsequently quite rightly charged with outraging public decency; may this right-wing scumbag have the book chucked at him.

[Update: 12.05pm GMT, 15th June: Andrew Banks was jailed for 14 days after pleading guilty to outraging public decency. Ironically, prosecutor Michael Mallon told the court: “The Tottenham fan was in central London to ‘protect statues,’ but admitted he did not know which ones,” reported ‘Metro.’]

    Robin Leach (1941 – 2018)

“With champagne wishes and caviar dreams” was the famous signoff of London born Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous host Robin Leach. Harrow High School educated, this one-time Daily Mail reporter moved to the US in 1963 with $145 in his pocket and after briefly becoming a shoe salesman founded a music publication named Go Magazine.

After selling up “at considerable profit,” Leach worked for The National Star and CNN before coming up with Lifestyles in 1984. He attributed the show’s popularity to Jimmy Carter exiting the White House and boasted: “[It was] because the Reagans brought in an aura of wealth. Jimmy Carter was too ordinary. So, when Reagan came in, it was time for a show about wealth and success… Hear this: In the course of an hour, I deliver twice as much audio information and visual images as any other show on television. I’m fast and loud on purpose. I cram 10 pounds of caviar into an eight-pound pack.”

“Sensational, not scandalous” in his approach, twice married, father of three Leach’s subjects numbered everyone from Celine Dion to Madonna and Adnan Khashoggi and Donald Trump. As a result this celebrant of wealth and capitalism became a millionaire and pretty famous himself and in 2007, in the Fergie song Glamorous featuring Ludacris, the latter rapped: “Lifestyles so rich and famous, Robin Leach’ll get jealous.” With his passing, most certainly, this much parodied “life of the party” has most definitely moved to the skies.

Comparing phone hacking to Jihad is simply ludicrous

In yesterday’s Sun on Sunday, “warm heart[ed], acid tongue[d]” Tony Parsons ranted about the “waste of money” that has been the “assorted inquisitions into the newspaper industry”. Whilst much of what he stated is true, the way in which he linked this to the war on Jihad was quite ridiculous. (more…)
