    Sally Farmiloe-Neville (1954 – 2014)

Sally FarmiloeThis Hampshire born actress, model and author embodied the spirit of a true trooper. Having starred in the 1980s drama series Howards’ Way, Farmiloe-Neville made her name organising fundraisers for both the Conservatives and charities and did so with a panache second to none. She did not allow an affair with Jeffrey Archer to shape her and as a caring mother to daughter Jade, stepson Alistair and adopted daughter Kat, lived happily with her husband Jeremy Neville, a chartered surveyor, in Baron’s Court. Having sadly lost her long battle with breast cancer, Sally Farmiloe-Neville’s arrival will now mean heaven will forever be a none stop party.

Burning the beret and burying the blue dress

As Monica Lewinsky speaks out, shouldn’t the world move on?

In the forthcoming edition of Vanity Fair, Monica Lewinsky candidly writes about her affair with President Clinton. For The Steeple Times news of this has seen a huge spike in traffic as interest in our “Where are they now?” on the world’s most famous intern has once again caused that feature to trend.

The forthcoming 'Vanity Fair' article by Monica Lewinsky: "Shame and Survival"
The forthcoming ‘Vanity Fair’ article by Monica Lewinsky: “Shame and Survival”

    In the article, Lewinksy states:

“It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress… I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened”.

Lewinsky adds that she thinks that:

“[It is time to stop] tiptoeing around my past—and other people’s futures. I am determined to have a different ending to my story. I’ve decided, finally, to stick my head above the parapet so that I can take back my narrative and give a purpose to my past. (What this will cost me, I will soon find out.)”.

Monica Lewinsky – who also states that her current goal “is to get involved with efforts on behalf of victims of online humiliation and harassment and to start speaking on this topic in public forums” – deserves a break: The world has moved on since the tawdry events of 1995,1996 and 1997 and it is time that we allowed her to do the same.

The full story is available in Vanity Fair’s digital edition from tomorrow, 8th May, and in the print edition on 13th May.

  • Anna Wintour OBE

    Anna Wintour OBE

Anna Wintour 350Her Evening Standard editor father was known as “Chilly Charlie” and she’s become “Nuclear Wintour”. This New York based Brit states that she’s “lost count” of the number of times she’s been attacked by activists and once retaliated by sending anti-fur campaigners a plate of roast beef when they picketed her Condé Nast offices. In her youth, Wintour went to parties with the Daily Mail’s Nigel Dempster, dated older men and set her stall out clearly in the remark: “You either know fashion, or you don’t”. Now, this divorced trendsetter has morphed into a grande dame and hidden behind her sunglasses and a pageboy bob, this powerhouse of fashion truly does deserve the title: “Unofficial Mayoress of New York”. The Devil Wears Prada may have indeed been based on her, but the reality is far more salacious.
