Professor Alan Sked forms new party
In 1991, Alan Sked, a professor of International History at the London School of Economics, formed the Anti-Federalist League. In 1993, the organisation became what is now known as the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) but after leaving what he came to see as a factionalised organisation in 1997, Sked has just formed a new party named New Deal.
