After walking across Hyde Park this morning to a launch breakfast at Selfridges, I passed the Animals in War memorial on Park Lane. It was partially covered in a sheet and partially sprayed with red paint. It was a sad sight to see something Brigadier Andrew Parker Bowles OBE, Jilly Cooper OBE and others had worked so tirelessly to get built desecrated in this fashion.
When her husband left her, she could of ‘moaned’ but instead she got on with it and paid her now ex-husband some £24 million for his share of her lingerie business. Glasgow born, Mone “”grew up a Scottish, Labour voting Protestant and is now a Conservative voting Catholic” but it is for her patented Ultimo bra that women love her most. Like Margaret Thatcher before her, this high achiever sleeps for only 4 hours each night and goes for a 5-mile jog every morning. She especially likes the lyrics of Michael Buble’s Haven’t Met You Yet.
As the BBC announce an investigation into the activities of Stuart Hall, he transfers his marital home solely into the name of his wife and his son states that his OBE should not be revoked
You’d have thought that after Stuart Hall OBE’s barrister said “sorry for what he has done” last week, the convicted paedophile would now be trying to do his best to show some remorse. Sadly Mr Hall is now doing just the opposite.
This British radio presenter, journalist and author is a much respected and reassuring voice of reason. Whilst at Oxford she was the librarian of the Oxford Union and then wrote a travel book, One Summer’s Grace, based on a 1,700 mile sailing journey she made around Britain with children aged three and five in 2002. Those who follow her Midweek show on Radio 4 find her a joy to listen to.
The links between Owen Oyston, William Roache and Stuart Hall
Board meetings of Ridings Publishing Company Limited and its subsidiaries and Oystons Limited must have featured some interesting conversations as at them three well-known men were eligible to attend. Those three men, as of today, variously have served a jail sentence for rape, been convicted and await sentencing for 14 charges of indecent assault and await trial for two counts of raping a 15 year old.
William Roache, better known as “Coronation Street’s” Ken Barlow is arrested over allegation of the rape of an under-age girl
Recently, we reported on remarks given by Coronation Street actor William Roache MBE to a New Zealand television programme about people who have committed child sex crimes. Roache bizarrely said that the public should be “totally forgiving” of such individuals. This morning, he was arrested over an allegation that he raped an under-age girl in Lancashire between April and July 1967.
William Roache MBERoache once stated: “I’ve slept with 1,000 women”Police officers were photographed outside William Roache’s home, The White House, Meadow Way, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 6JL, this morning
Mr Roache is the grandson of a Freemason who was interested in hypnotism, theosophy and esotericism. He is himself a vegetarian and spiritualist and was photographed participating in Druid rituals in the 1970s.
The actor gained the nickname “Cock Roache” after openly admitted to having slept with over 1,000 women and also happens to sit on the board of Oystons Estate Agency with the television presenter Stuart Hall OBE. Mr Hall is currently awaiting trial on three counts of indecent assault between 1967 and 1986 whilst the company’s founder, Owen Oyston, was jailed for six years in 1996 after having been convicted of rape.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police commented:
“We take all allegations of sexual abuse extremely seriously and would encourage people with any information about sexual abuse, or anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse, to come forward and report their concerns confident in the knowledge they will be investigated appropriately and with sensitivity”.
Former Coronation Street actor Andrew LancelCoronation Street’s Kevin Webster, Michael Le Vell
Currently two other Coronation Street actors, Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster, and Andrew Lancel, who played Frank Foster, are awaiting trial on child sex charges. Le Vell, also known as Michael Turner, will go on trial at Manchester crown court on 2nd September 2013 whilst Lancel, also known as Andrew Watkinson, will see his trial commence at Liverpool crown court on 3rd June 2013.
They do say the truth is often stranger than fiction and it does indeed seem like the lives of these Coronation Street actors are more dramatic off screen than they are on it.
Yorkshire born and twice divorced, Wilton is the niece of actor Bill Travers. She’s performed widely but truly came to fame when she appeared alongside Richard Briers in the BBC’s Ever Decreasing Circles in 1984. As Rosemary in Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads 2 and as Mrs Bibby in his The History Boys, she was brilliant but it is as Isobel Crawley in Julian Fellowes’ Downton Abbey that she is now best known. Wilton has most definitely got playing middle-class down to a tee and once commented: “I find talking about acting very boring, having to come out with platitudes about how terribly nice everyone is… I would much rather just do it”.
Most recognised for having played Uncle Monty in Withnail and I and Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter films, this Yorkshireman truly was a larger than life actor. (more…)
