Katie Hopkins proves that she is indeed scared of The Steeple Times

She gives it out like a trooper but she plainly can’t take it when it comes back at her. After a correspondence on Twitter, we offered media mouthpiece Katie Hopkins the chance to do our 20 question “What’s on your mantelpiece?” interview. We thought the media loving home wrecker – whose website states that she’s into “Telling it like it is” – would jump at the chance, but thus far she’s failed to answer. Yasmin Alibhai-Brown (born Yasmin Damji)

Yasmin Alibhai-BrownThis Ugandan-born journalist is a self-confessed racist who loathes “white, middle class men”, yet describes herself as being a “leftie liberal, anti-racist, feminist, Muslim, part-Pakistani, and … a very responsible person”. She believes Osama bin Laden didn’t get a “respectful burial” and asked: “Why does anyone black, Asian or Arab ever vote Tory?” on Twitter in July 2013 before talking about the urinal her husband had “pissed in” at a pub in Loughton, Essex in August of the same year. A true mouthpiece, Alibhai-Brown is just the kind of person no right-minded person would ever invite to dinner.

  • Helen Flanagan

    Helen Flanagan

Helen Flanagan 300This Manchester born former Coronation Street actress has a penchant for footballers and was once described as “Britain’s dumbest celebrity” by The Sun. In May 2013, of convicted paedophile Stuart Hall, she commented: “I just think, that’s an 83-year-old man, you could give him a heart attack. Have some respect”. Previously she shared a photograph of herself on Twitter featuring an image of her posing with a gun to her head just after the US Sandy Hook massacre. On another occasion, she pressed “like” on a series of pictures of emaciated girls on the “thinspiration” website. Asked why, her response was: “I thought the pictures I liked on Instagram were private until now”. This village idiot would do well to keep quiet.

  • Sandi Toksvig

    Sandi Toksvig

Sandi ToksvigIn 2013, this Danish-British former Liberal Democrat author and presenter stated: “The Duchess of Cambridge lacks a single [relevant] opinion”. The nation were far from impressed. “Toxic Toksvig”, as some refer to her, is a Cambridge educated lesbian and mother of three whose works number Hitler’s Canary and Heroines & Harridans. She started her career on the appropriately named Motormouth and once stated: “When I see comedian – and ‘comedienne’, of course I hate it – I think ‘Oh, really?’ because I think of myself as a writer and broadcaster”. Miaow!

My career is not over… It’s only just beginning

Nadine Dorries lays out her future plans

Nadine Dorries appeared on Andrew Neil’s Sunday Politics yesterday and declared: “My career is not over… It’s only just beginning.”

    Nadine Dorries

The MP for Mid-Bedfordshire may be a bit of her mouthpiece and though her time in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! was cringeworthy and tasteless, she’s the one having the last laugh. Her critics mock her as “Mad Nad”, but they are wrong. Dorries has made headway to share the issues she believes in and she has indeed become a household name.

Ms Dorries declared that she went on the show: “For the greater good of the Conservative Party” but as her parliamentary whip remains withdrawn, she plainly fails to understand that her colleagues are still less than thrilled with her. If they were sensible though, they should relent before she decides to jump.

Neil repeatedly asked Dorries if she would defect to UKIP and she tacitly denied such a possibility. One guest commented: “They [the Conservative Party] would be crazy to make her a UKIP martyr” and we agree with Andre Neil in his suggestion that: “She’ll live to fight another day.”

  • Nad's not that Mad

Matthew Steeples suggests that Nadine Dorries is perhaps right to head for the jungle

Don’t get me wrong: I think Nadine Dorries is an utter loon. For those who haven’t heard of her, she’s the MP for Mid-Bedfordshire and a bit of a mouthpiece. Her entry on our roll call attracted over 8,000 hits yesterday and that alone is clear indication that she, unlike the majority of dimwits that occupy the Houses of Parliament, is an MP who gets noticed.

Nadine Dorries heads for the jungle

“Gets noticed,” I hear you splutter. Yes, she’s someone who loves the limelight and doesn’t care whom she offends. She’s best known for having described David Cameron and George Osborne as a pair of “arrogant posh boys” who “don’t know the price of milk” and is regularly derided for her “maverick” ways. Here is a woman who gets compared to Ann Widdecombe and Edwina Currie and one that hasn’t let her party tell her what to do.

In the House of Commons she’s achieved little apart from becoming a figure of fun. She’s commonly known as “Mad Nad” and the media reel her out whenever they fancy a bit of sport. Dorries can be relied upon to produce lines such as: “[I’m] not an MP for any other reason other than because God wants me to be” and these indeed are classic examples of her idiocy.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Ms. Dorries, on full parliamentary pay, has headed off to Australia to participate in the ITV1 television series I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! For this, she’s pocketing a fee of circa £40,000 and will, without doubt, rake in a lot more in appearance fees and for interviews on her return. MPs and the media derided this move but I congratulate her.

    Martha Payne

I cannot disagree with those who state that she’d be fired if she were in a normal job and just disappeared for a month, but “Mad Nad” has realised that the Conservative Party is not the place for her. She has plainly come to the conclusion that the House of Commons is nothing other than a chamber full of hot air and that to get things changed, you follow the example of the schoolgirl Martha Payne and use technology and the media to the max. With NeverSeconds, this fearless 9-year old took on the might of a council and improved school dinners. In the meantime, MPs haven’t even been able to come up with an appropriate solution to restore the Houses of Parliament, let alone solve a nation in the midst of economic meltdown.

Frankly, we have too many MPs in this country and they don’t work hard enough. In total, there are 650 and this corresponds to one for every 68,000 parliamentary electors. It would be better to halve this number and double the pay of the remainder. We’d get better quality people applying to be our representatives and people like “Mad Nad” would be a thing of the past. Nadine Dorries isn’t an A-list “celebrity” but she should most certainly stick to the jungle.

  • Angela Epstein

    Angela Epstein

The Daily Mail is renowned for enthusiastically bashing benefit scroungers but in November 2012, they gave Angela Epstein, whose household income is in excess of £100,000 a year, a platform to bleat that she wasn’t getting enough. This Manchester based mum of four has also penned articles speaking of her pride about driving her brats five minutes down the road to school and boasts that “being in the media puts a girl on the radar.” Epstein makes Samantha Brick seem positively sane and we really hope that someone will just turn this ridiculous woman’s antenna off.

George Galloway MP backs Julian Assange

This morning’s The Independent carried the story of Julian Assange’s latest backer, George Galloway MP.

George Galloway MP, British politician, author, journalist, broadcaster and the Respect Member of Parliament for Bradford West

In a video podcast, Galloway suggests that the allegations against Assange should not be considered rape when he states:

“Even taken at its worst, if the allegations made by these two women were true, 100 per cent true, and even if a camera in the room captured them, they don’t constitute rape.”

“Not everybody needs to be asked prior to each insertion. Some people believe that when you go to bed with somebody, take off your clothes, and have sex with them and then fall asleep, you’re already in the sex game with them.”

“It might be really bad manners not to have tapped her on the shoulder and said, “do you mind if I do it again?” It might be really sordid and bad sexual etiquette, but whatever else it is, it is not rape.”

Perhaps Galloway and Assange should get a room. They’re equally well known for the ludicrous statements they come out with so I’m sure they’d appreciate one another’s pillow talk.

    Jan Moir

She called the Olympic women’s road race winner, Marianne Vos: “Some bitch from Holland” and won the Stonewall Bigot of the Year Award after mocking Stephen Gately’s death in 2009. Her poisonous pen was utilised again in August 2012 when she attacked both Anthea Turner and Eva Rausing in the same article. This mouth of the south should be sent to Siberia.

The Rt. Hon. Margaret Hodge MBE MP (also known as Lady Hodge)

This former Minister for Children is not without controversy. She’s criticised the Proms for not being inclusive enough and instead rates Coronation Street. In 2004, she was named as the winner of the Big Brother Award as the “Worst Public Servant” for her backing of the Universal Child Database. In the same year, a Fathers 4 Justice campaigner handcuffed her on the basis that she was the “bogeywoman of family law.”
